When there is an "h" sound in a word, the h sound should be said. It sounds totally idiotic if the word is spelt with the h,e.g herbs,but you pronounce it erbs. For some reason, the American accent has evolved this way and I think the idiotic missing "h" shows how idiotic americans actually are.
