very common in high level play. it effectively doubles your chance of getting a hit in the combination to make sure you actually connect. Timing is almost everything in Street Fighter, so double tapping allows it to be a little easier.
nothing has been proven. They were all close, great matches. I really dont know what kind of agenda some of you have to say player xy one is proven to be better than player z. Its pretty clear that a player can also beat another player if he loses 2:4 or 3:4 like it was the case @ gamestop. Beside that, its pretty unimportant, we will see great fights again soon.
i know hes the korean champ, and ive seen all his videos i know how good he is, but hes just missing the basic defensive capabilities which all the japanese players have, and since they know how to take advantage of situations to punish people, they beat him quite easily cuz he left himself too open. the only person he actually came really close to beating is jwong, as you just said. he got owned by daigo and iyo. plus those videos are so old, theyve all improved aloooot by now. so stfu asshole.
It's not about the combos. You're watching his videos blindly like a random person would watch a football game.
Poongko's yomi is way above most players, even a large majority of the Japanese. His knowledge is also incredibly good. in fact, it seems pretty obvious that you don't truly understand Poongko's rushdown, and you think he's just randomly tossing strings non-stop.
Pungko's creativity is also insane...but it's not just about that, it's about being able to look seemingly random, yet be fully aware of your actions and Pungko seems to demonstrate this better than any other players I've seen in SF4.
Daigo said in some interview that Poongko played against him in the "wrong" way and that the match (which is on youtube somewhere) would have been much closer had he used a strategy more similar to Daigo's own
i know this guy since his kof xi matches

you can hear him double-tapping almost every input ... Nice thing to be aware of!

Double tapping is perfectly fine. It's not like he's using turbo, unlike so many people on xbox live.

Another thing you also seem to be missing is that Poongko's defense is actually incredibly high.
