Formation flying in flight sims must actually be harder than in reality... sure you have the added bonus of not being able to die, which makes things mentally easier, but you only have visual cues to go on. There's no "feel" to it.
@N37BU6 Lock On is probably the best flight sim that tries to recreate that feel, for example when you turn, your screen doesn't turn with the airplane, its kind of hard to explain but it feels like flight a little bit. Atleast with the Flaming Cliffs 2 expansion pack.

Lock On is the flight simulator these guys are using to connect remotely and fly demonstrations together. FYI you will not see anything like this just by buying the Lock On software by itself.

This is Lock On. All modded aircrafts got a cockpit of the standard aircrafts. In this case its the F15 Cockpit. Yes that sucks, but cause that theres a metal surround on the canopy..

No problem. Yes it is, im also a leader of a Flight team, we are normally based on FSX, flying the F/A18 in our own Paint. I tried to fix the Aerosoft F16 to get it flyable, but that is still a dream. I spent 7 hours to paint our F16 wich looks great, but it was all for nothing. The aerosoft f16 is just awesome, but we think about to move to Lock On..
I love FSX, it's just a shame other aircraft are so laggy in close formation otherwise it would be the perfect platform for a virtual display team. And yep, the F-16 is a joy. Have you thought about trying the Skysim hawk? may prove a little more stable?
Yeah, the FSX is not THAT bad, but the flight controls and flight dynamics are horrible, especially for Jets. Otherwise the FSX is good. And, no, we didnt think about the hawk, but im sure that we just would take the F/A18 or the F16. ;)
