I heard this idea on another board: Get rid of the income tax, tax businesses profit, instate a federal sales tax, and the only tax breaks will be given for businesses that hire people, and keep jobs in American.

The intention (Bush's stimulus attempt) was to boost consumer confidence but since the possibility of losing one's job was a huge concern among many folks throughout the country, they decided to save that money and put it in the bank.
That money could have been used to rebuild the country and that puts many Americans to work, earn money and spend that money on other American services. Instead of going directly to your personal pocket and possibly spending on a Korean-made TV :D

Jobs are in China and now we've got million of south americans coming here illegally joinning our work force and it puts alot of americans who were born here and who's family has been american for generations out of work.
Get the jobs back from china and deport millions of illegals and pass very tough illegal immigration laws and if a company wants to take its manufacturing over seas then tax them so much that the incentives for moving their business is non existant.

Our government knows where the jobs are, other than the imaginary ones they think they created with the stimulus money they wasted, they know that the jobs are in China. Perhaps this admin should admit that it is time to stop supporting the unions and lower the corporate tax rate, instead of making the US the most undesirable place to do business.
