What's up! I just wanted to say I love this song as much as the rest of you and I enjoy reading all the different comments everyone leaves. This song in particular came across for me when I was coming out of my early 20s and into a frenzied mid 20s full of dope and broken relationships. "I stay away!" was my theme song for a long while. Miss Layne. Still love Jerry.
AIC + Layne is simply the best music ever recorded. This music helps me through life although it's all sad and depressing, it's the truth. I'm pretty much obsessed with AIC all the old stuff -- all the best stuff. Layne was a poet and a musical genuis. I miss him deeply.
A Metal band that can play acoustic with the same intensity as their up beat songs but at a calmer volume.........job well done, we will never see another band acomplish this, never.
Don't know what it is...every year, when the days start getting shorter and it starts getting chilly...this album gets played more...esp. this song...something about the chiming guitar intro...
Mike Starr And Lane Staley join the soil my friends, I love you and I will miss you forever. your music will be heard for many years to come. There is no god, so the best you can do is become mulch, I am sure you already knew this though.
Wow, this is amazing. The lyrics are so deep and meaningful! I'd really love to have "Yeah, hey Yeah, tears that soak" written on my gravestone. So moving.
And when the song just ended like that? I felt like I had had sex without an orgasm. Amazing stuff.
Hi friends, we love this song. we try to do a version of this song at home. Not have the same production. You could watch it later on my channel? thanks

Hi friends, we love this song. we try to do a version of this song at home. Not have the same production. You could watch it later on my channel? thanks
@DoubleFeo Actually, I was born in the 70s. But, I know what you mean. Music from the early 90s was the soundtrack to my high school years. Watching the video reminds me of talking a trip to Albuquerque on the Greyhound. It's seems like us people born over 20 years ago gravitate to great music like this. I know some kids now that are just getting into stuff like this, which is awesome. There are some good band today, but this is the stuff I love even still to this day.
@HEROINBONER1 The problem today is that there are no real good outlets for music anymore. Like back when this stuff came out, MTV use to play videos and the radio didn't always play commercialize music like they do these days. I would say that most kids I know listen to nothing but mainstream stuff and music they think makes them cool. There's good music out there, but it's harder to find for sure. There was some bad music when I was younger, but I would say there's more of it these days.
@fatcatbuzz I was born in the early 90s. my older relatives listened to this and I remember hearing it all the time on the radio and what not. those were the good days when actual music was played around you
@EverythingAroundMe88 Yeah, some of my best and favorite music memories in my life are of the early 90s. I still love a lot that stuff from back then. Let's hope that music will get better than it is now. Most music these days do not represent real life at all.
@r3st1np3ac3 Lol it's definitely a generalisation, but I do know a lot of music studying friends who claim that the 90s was the most boring decade music-wise. And for some reason I hear a lot of others say that, I dunno if it's a New Zealand opinion or something.
But clearly all of my music-studying friends aren't into the alt-rock scene haha.
@Lindseyup67 yes, but their original singer (Layne Staley) died in 2002 and their original bassist (Mike Star) died earlier this year. AIC is still around and still play live but everything they wrote back in the 90's is just timeless material, this song is from their 1994 EP "Jar of Flies" hope you browse some more of their songs!
The Cobain v. Staley ultimate duel is utterly juvenile and idiotic but this is youtube so what did I expect? Kurt and Layne weren't good pals per se, but they knew each other and remarked the other was nice. Layne said, he remembered Cobain was real happy when his daughter was born. Unfortunately, when they hung out, it was mostly to shoot up heroin as Mike Starr would later talk about. Fucking shame
if i remember correctly;mike starr said him and kurt shot up a few times together!i think when u r a junkie u hang out where the drugs and ppl who feel like u do r.
@meghanatterson As a addict in recovery i can tell you that you dont really care who you're booting with , as long as it's getting done . Hell i remember sitting in a bus stop with some guyu i just met using rain water collected in the corner of my sunglasses to mix. The gear in australia is/was a bit different, didnt need heat.
Stiil i guess there is the small comfort knowing the guy wouldnt freak out or call the cops or whatever.
Okay, I know i can't be the only one who feels this way, but does anyone else think the first 45 sec (lyrical) part of the song is what makes it? the chorus just ruined the song in my opinion, but the lyrical parts are just amazing at the beginning!!
I knew Layne. We were friends. I moved away from the Seattle scene before he died. When I left, he told me not to look back. I was in NY when this was recorded, it was so Layne. I miss him still.
I've been a fan of AIC since I first saw the video for "Them Bones" on MTV back when it debuted. Yes I'm that old. Today I actually found Jar Of Flies in a music store...for $5.99. I was pleased.
@llHyRaXll Say what you want about Axl, but there was a time when he was the best frontman in the world.. have not seen a singer as interesting as him since.
@llHyRaXll okay, now i gotta talk real. i dont give a shit about kurt. i think he is, and was, a fucking loser and not even half a man. he took his own life like a little bitch and left his wife on her own with their daughter. what a fucking piece of shit that guy was. if your trying to say kurt was better than axl, your fucking kidding yourself.
@MrTufflong well from what ive seen. people say kurt did not kill himself.. just go read up on it and the info seems like somone killed him.. either way axl is still an asshole and faggot. wheather kurt was a loser or not...axl is one of the biggest douches in music
@llHyRaXll Really? do u believe everything u read? Kurt killed himself like a true bitch. end of story. and your beef with axl is what? were you part of GNR? did you have personal contact with axl or the band? hard to hate a person you never knew.
@MrTufflong It's widely accepted that Courtney did it, or was in some way connected. Also, Axl is an asshole. This is pretty obvious all the times he NEVER showed up to his own concerts. The job as a musician is to play your songs and support your fans, which he rarely did. Not saying he didn't put out great music, which he did -- but as a performer he blew.
@MrTufflong no its not hard to hate osmone you didnt know.. i hate pol pot and i never met him..its not that hard to figure out the way a person is.. just look at hsi actions has he killed anyone, does he say stupid things??? i can tell form that.. i guess your to dumb to do it too
@llHyRaXll listen you ignorant and gullible bitch.. just because you hate a person dosent mean you know it all. as a matter of fact, you might hate them for all the wrong reasons. that comment about you "reading" the evidence to support kurts murder is flagrant bullshit and enough for me to discredit any opinion of yours.
@llHyRaXll yeah, i gave my reason why i do hate kurt. learn to read dumbass. however, nirvana as a band was alright, though they pale in comparison to the true seattle masters- AIC and Soundgarden.
@llHyRaXll it is a moral crime to commit suicide, kurt like everybody had his good and bad, but restricting the other guys freedom ov speech wont help you,...................
Nirvana and AIC were both great bands. They both did great things for grunge and hard rock. Just be glad you still get to listen to the classics instead of the crap thats popular these days
i dont call this band a metal band...i just call them alice in chains

@llHyRaXll listen you ignorant and gullible bitch.. just because you hate a person dosent mean you know it all. as a matter of fact, you might hate them for all the wrong reasons. that comment about you "reading" the evidence to support kurts murder is flagrant bullshit and enough for me to discredit any opinion of yours.

@MrTufflong you hate kurt and nirvana so shut the hell up you hypocrit

@llHyRaXll yeah, i gave my reason why i do hate kurt. learn to read dumbass. however, nirvana as a band was alright, though they pale in comparison to the true seattle masters- AIC and Soundgarden.

Nirvana and AIC were both great bands. They both did great things for grunge and hard rock. Just be glad you still get to listen to the classics instead of the crap thats popular these days
