  • i dont call this band a metal band...i just call them alice in chains

  • Like the song, don't like the idiotic top comments...

  • AIC is far beyond anything any being can say on douchebag YouTube.

  • Why can't we have another Alice?

'Because idiot, things like that happen once in a life time."

  • @MrTurtleman224 I am feeling down... and this song and your comment almost made me cry (Not the idiot part XD, the "Once in a life time") -Jon R. I.

  • highway music.

  • What's up! I just wanted to say I love this song as much as the rest of you and I enjoy reading all the different comments everyone leaves. This song in particular came across for me when I was coming out of my early 20s and into a frenzied mid 20s full of dope and broken relationships. "I stay away!" was my theme song for a long while. Miss Layne. Still love Jerry.

  • @jeffreyhsykes and i can't diss the drummer and bass player. so tight. always loved the growl and the snap too. great band all the way around.

  • Probably in my Top 3 AIC songs, the vocal range alone is stunning.

  • 3 people need to check their brain

  • Love this band

  • AIC + Layne is simply the best music ever recorded. This music helps me through life although it's all sad and depressing, it's the truth. I'm pretty much obsessed with AIC all the old stuff -- all the best stuff. Layne was a poet and a musical genuis. I miss him deeply.

  • I wonder if this song is what bipolar sounds like?

  • @JNvids true.. I love Alice in chains

  • thnx 4 posting....one of the last great bands,,,,,miss u layne !!!!

  • Grew up listening to this, absolute quality...Amazing still, after all these years!

  • This album lives with me forever, as does Layne.

  • whoa. i got into the time machine with this one. it brings me back and is still an aweeesome album..damn.

  • I'm naming my first son Layne

  • miss layne so so so much

  • yes

  • 2 people can stay away..

  • best song.

  • So many memories and mammaries associated with this song.

  • I love Alice in Chains! I miss Layne Staley. Still great music!

  • Damn I miss these guys...

  • ..oh I luv ya.

  • I STAY AWAY.

  • ლ(ಠ益ಠლ Y U ACT CRAZY

  • Bought the cassette when it came out, still consider it a select piece of American music history!

  • Layne and Kurt are probably jamming up there with Jim Morrison, JImi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin man and i bet its fucking beautiful

  • @TheJames1233 Janis Joplin.. what????

  • R.I.P Layne! He can never be replaced!

  • A beautiful time in history. When music was REAL

  • This song has the weirdest and coolest chorus of rock n roll history.

  • i have the weirdest boner right now

  • @1990sfan666 im sayin bruh

  • A Metal band that can play acoustic with the same intensity as their up beat songs but at a calmer volume.........job well done, we will never see another band acomplish this, never.

  • @spenjax1111 its not metal

  • @fabianfcs that is subjective.

  • @spenjax1111 alice in chains was a GRUNGE band. not metal

  • @spenjax1111 listen to cemetary gates- pantera lol

  • @spenjax1111 i love this comment, but AIC is not metal. they are grunge, like metal, but with more drugs.

  • @spenjax1111 -- I'm a cynic....but I hope you are wrong

  • if you dont like alice in chains, you dont like music period.

  • @yomommaisfat123 you fuckin rock man layne forever

  • awesome comment and very very true

  • i would of loved to see this played at the unplugged show RIP Layne and Mike

  • Don't know what it is...every year, when the days start getting shorter and it starts getting chilly...this album gets played more...esp. this song...something about the chiming guitar intro...

  • I have been looking for this song for a good 2 hours. Didn't know the name of the band nor the name of the song, and it wasn't on ITUNES.

  • @e3erockstar08 They took it off itunes ..really sad ..It is a required album as a Chains fan.

  • la música alice in chains es genial

  • when he says 'i want to travel south this year,' does that mean he wants to die? and go to hell?

  • @pinkman420 nah man it means hes tired of people

  • @pinkman420 If you've ever spent a winter in the NW US...then you'd understand...we get sick of the cold!

  • Mike Starr And Lane Staley join the soil my friends, I love you and I will miss you forever. your music will be heard for many years to come. There is no god, so the best you can do is become mulch, I am sure you already knew this though.

  • what year was this song made

  • @bpunisher94 some year

  • @bpunisher94 1994 :)

  • Song never gets old. Keep it on repeat all day long.

  • GREAT band... GREAT E.P (Jar Of Flies)... influenced MANY bands.

  • The violins in this song coupled with the guitar bring me up hiiiiiigh. Alice in Chains forever.

  • Wow, this is amazing. The lyrics are so deep and meaningful! I'd really love to have "Yeah, hey Yeah, tears that soak" written on my gravestone. So moving.

And when the song just ended like that? I felt like I had had sex without an orgasm. Amazing stuff.

  • i love alice in chains. and i think that this is the shortest song from their album

  • Feels like im flying righ now!

  • My funeral song.

  • We don't have great people like Layne staley anymore. He was one of the best. R.I.P Layne. :(

  • I love this shit, im 25 and knowin wut i know, my generation and younger knows shit about music! I kno every1 agrees!!!! May rock never die!!!!

  • This song has been stuck in my head for 17 years....

  • @Shocker7475 ditto.

  • @Shocker7475 Mine, too. The best Alice In Chain song ever.

  • @fatcatbuzz cause you was born in the 80's like me

  • @DoubleFeo Actually, I was born in the 70s. But, I know what you mean. Music from the early 90s was the soundtrack to my high school years. Watching the video reminds me of talking a trip to Albuquerque on the Greyhound. It's seems like us people born over 20 years ago gravitate to great music like this. I know some kids now that are just getting into stuff like this, which is awesome. There are some good band today, but this is the stuff I love even still to this day.

  • @fatcatbuzz I'm 15 and I love GOOD music like this, it pisses me off that other kids my age like LIl Wayne and all that mainstream shit

  • Comment removed

  • @HEROINBONER1 The problem today is that there are no real good outlets for music anymore. Like back when this stuff came out, MTV use to play videos and the radio didn't always play commercialize music like they do these days. I would say that most kids I know listen to nothing but mainstream stuff and music they think makes them cool. There's good music out there, but it's harder to find for sure. There was some bad music when I was younger, but I would say there's more of it these days.

  • @fatcatbuzz Not this kid :)

  • @fatcatbuzz I was born in the early 90s. my older relatives listened to this and I remember hearing it all the time on the radio and what not. those were the good days when actual music was played around you

  • @EverythingAroundMe88 Yeah, some of my best and favorite music memories in my life are of the early 90s. I still love a lot that stuff from back then. Let's hope that music will get better than it is now. Most music these days do not represent real life at all.

  • @fatcatbuzz Lets hope so. I mean people listen to this, dont doubt others will make good music like it. Alice in Chains forever man

  • @Shocker7475 i feel you bro but only 10 for me ...........I STILL STAY AWAY .....i miss the early 90

  • @Shocker7475 me too bro

  • @Shocker7475 Ditto on that one.

  • @Shocker7475 i was thinking exactly the same thing.

  • @Shocker7475 Amen bro'. Me too.

  • @Shocker7475 beautifully well put :)

  • @Shocker7475 A time to be high, smart, and weird.

    ALL at the same time!

  • @UserNamei5 I know that feel bro.

  • r.i.p: Layne Staley.

  • God, this song brings me to tears.

  • Lead singer Layne Staley wrote the lyrics to this song when he came out of rehab and was sober for a short time.

  • And people say the 90s had no good music...

  • @SlappaDeBassMon Um..Who says that??? 90's had some of the best music ever..

  • @r3st1np3ac3 Lol it's definitely a generalisation, but I do know a lot of music studying friends who claim that the 90s was the most boring decade music-wise. And for some reason I hear a lot of others say that, I dunno if it's a New Zealand opinion or something.

But clearly all of my music-studying friends aren't into the alt-rock scene haha.

  • @SlappaDeBassMon whaat?!? AIC, Nirvana, soundgarden.....

  • @megadethifyify Haha I know, but heaps of people I know seem to forget about them.

Oh and don't forget Rage Against The Machine :)

  • @SlappaDeBassMon Right on.... AND temple of the dog, and Audioslave. :P

  • hahahahahaha...no shit.

  • why the HELL is there a blacked eyed peas ad to the right!?

  • this should have been on unplugger, MASTERPIECE!!

  • Is this band still alive/around?? 43 yr old woman here..LOVE this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Lindseyup67 yes, but their original singer (Layne Staley) died in 2002 and their original bassist (Mike Star) died earlier this year. AIC is still around and still play live but everything they wrote back in the 90's is just timeless material, this song is from their 1994 EP "Jar of Flies" hope you browse some more of their songs!

  • @Lindseyup67 2 Memebers are dead , New singer and yes still around .

  • Whats with all the hate?!? :(

  • The Cobain v. Staley ultimate duel is utterly juvenile and idiotic but this is youtube so what did I expect? Kurt and Layne weren't good pals per se, but they knew each other and remarked the other was nice. Layne said, he remembered Cobain was real happy when his daughter was born. Unfortunately, when they hung out, it was mostly to shoot up heroin as Mike Starr would later talk about. Fucking shame

  • if i remember correctly;mike starr said him and kurt shot up a few times together!i think when u r a junkie u hang out where the drugs and ppl who feel like u do r.

  • @meghanatterson As a addict in recovery i can tell you that you dont really care who you're booting with , as long as it's getting done . Hell i remember sitting in a bus stop with some guyu i just met using rain water collected in the corner of my sunglasses to mix. The gear in australia is/was a bit different, didnt need heat.

Stiil i guess there is the small comfort knowing the guy wouldnt freak out or call the cops or whatever.

  • Okay, I know i can't be the only one who feels this way, but does anyone else think the first 45 sec (lyrical) part of the song is what makes it? the chorus just ruined the song in my opinion, but the lyrical parts are just amazing at the beginning!!

  • @TeeCoan your the only one haha

  • no genre of music sucks. its all about taste.

  • RIP Layne... You've inspired many.

  • I knew Layne. We were friends. I moved away from the Seattle scene before he died. When I left, he told me not to look back. I was in NY when this was recorded, it was so Layne. I miss him still.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh stay away (from my son mother shes a crazy bitch lol )

  • Hhahhahah blink 182 sux comparing them is like comparing chocolate to dog shit

  • @Guitaraman55 It's like comparing dated cheese wiz to a chicken dinner.

  • @KennyGarrett95 Its like comparing cumming to getting stabbed in the eye with an icepick

  • MIKE STARR DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MIKE STARR DEAD

  • I've been a fan of AIC since I first saw the video for "Them Bones" on MTV back when it debuted. Yes I'm that old. Today I actually found Jar Of Flies in a music store...for $5.99. I was pleased.

  • this song is great for traveling though the forest or the country

  • Forgot bout this song \m/

  • In responce the very first comments, Kurt didnt didnt get along with axl rose from GNR, but thats understandable, axl was, is a big fucking douchebag

  • @0uterHeaven0 axl rose still is a douchrbag... and now he looks like an irish wigger

  • @llHyRaXll Say what you want about Axl, but there was a time when he was the best frontman in the world.. have not seen a singer as interesting as him since.

  • @MrTufflong hes not interesting.. he is a great singer and artist, but he is a fucking douche and dresses like a faggot

  • @llHyRaXll okay, now i gotta talk real. i dont give a shit about kurt. i think he is, and was, a fucking loser and not even half a man. he took his own life like a little bitch and left his wife on her own with their daughter. what a fucking piece of shit that guy was. if your trying to say kurt was better than axl, your fucking kidding yourself.

  • @MrTufflong well from what ive seen. people say kurt did not kill himself.. just go read up on it and the info seems like somone killed him.. either way axl is still an asshole and faggot. wheather kurt was a loser or not...axl is one of the biggest douches in music

  • @llHyRaXll Really? do u believe everything u read? Kurt killed himself like a true bitch. end of story. and your beef with axl is what? were you part of GNR? did you have personal contact with axl or the band? hard to hate a person you never knew.

  • @MrTufflong It's widely accepted that Courtney did it, or was in some way connected. Also, Axl is an asshole. This is pretty obvious all the times he NEVER showed up to his own concerts. The job as a musician is to play your songs and support your fans, which he rarely did. Not saying he didn't put out great music, which he did -- but as a performer he blew.

  • @MrTufflong no its not hard to hate osmone you didnt know.. i hate pol pot and i never met him..its not that hard to figure out the way a person is.. just look at hsi actions has he killed anyone, does he say stupid things??? i can tell form that.. i guess your to dumb to do it too

  • @llHyRaXll listen you ignorant and gullible bitch.. just because you hate a person dosent mean you know it all. as a matter of fact, you might hate them for all the wrong reasons. that comment about you "reading" the evidence to support kurts murder is flagrant bullshit and enough for me to discredit any opinion of yours.

  • @MrTufflong you hate kurt and nirvana so shut the hell up you hypocrit

  • @llHyRaXll yeah, i gave my reason why i do hate kurt. learn to read dumbass. however, nirvana as a band was alright, though they pale in comparison to the true seattle masters- AIC and Soundgarden.

  • @llHyRaXll it is a moral crime to commit suicide, kurt like everybody had his good and bad, but restricting the other guys freedom ov speech wont help you,...................

  • Comment removed

  • @0uterHeaven0 axl is an ass... other gnr guys are fine

  • @serbian951 and i suggest gnrs dead horse for you my friend...........

  • @darkprincesythenlife thank you very much! its awesome B-)

  • @0uterHeaven0 Kurt had the shotgun blues, Axl's bitch ass just crooned about it

  • that of great memories shall never die !!!!

  • that of great memories never die !!!!

  • great memories never die !!!!

  • Man, I love this song

  • R.I.P Layne and Kurt. You will always be remembered for your beautiful music and impact on the people of the world. <3

  • R.I.P. Layne

    R.I.P. Kurt

  • this is alice in chains not kurt cobain

  • Nirvana and AIC were both great bands. They both did great things for grunge and hard rock. Just be glad you still get to listen to the classics instead of the crap thats popular these days
