@midgerm This is part of the Alien single-player campaign. One of the very first species you play, because someone got careless with the crate and left it unguarded. Then some vibration knocked it down and the egg is exposed...

And uh, this game is very much linear. Free roam is almost non-existent....

The CD-key thing was a step in the right direction. Everything else (Steam, SecuROM, etc..) is not.

And my favorite 90s PC game of all time would always be the classic Doom series.

I'm pretty sure you heard about Ubisoft's new DRM system where you have to be online constantly in order to play a single player game. One of the first to possibly have this is Assassin's Creed II for the PC. I hate it as much as I hate Steam.

And yes, requiring the net for anything other than initial activation totally sucks. Steam is a perfect example. At least with GFWL-based games, you can still create a local offline profile and still enjoy the gamesave benefits of solo gaming.

Re-hashing, and cookie-cutting other game's modes, plots and other misc details will make it lame regardless.

It's hard to get originality, but c'mon! Developers have got to try harder.

When they over focused on DRM and the game's graphics, the gameplay quality will greatly decrease most of the time for the final retail versions.

Facehuggers cause instant death to both Marines and Predators. The former makes some sense, while the latter makes no sense at all.

The sound of it isn't as creepy as the first game.

Yea, the AVP PC games were about the only ones that allowed you to play all three species. I enjoyed the Alien the most since you don't need to explore for resources nor rely on equipment. Your best resource is the prey you take down with everything that you need using your limbs. =)
