  • The only way to make a government do the right thing is to sue it and hold it accountable. Personally as a person who was a state ward in NZ in the 70's and who was raped for a year I really don't care for an apology by the state. I signed up for the case after seeing this video. I hope a lot more come forward and do the same. NZ to this day does not adequately sentence poedophiles - recently a tamp was given 2 years home detention and yet we must live with what was done to us for life.

  • @raimahi Sex offenders shouldn't be aloud to walk free among people. They should be put down, or put on leashes the rest of their lives. What day and age do we live in where we allow these beasts to walk free among our children?

  • @sayYAYtooday As an update to my case I have been denied legal aid and cannot afford a lawyer. Cooper Legal have refused to appeal this denial of legal aid after I expressed that it seemed pointless to pursue a case privately due to legal costs often being in excess of compensation. I'll make a few more posts on this as youtube limits how many words can be placed per post.

  • @sayYAYtooday My story…

I now have police records of my abuse. Through these records it has become patently obvious that the institution buried the whole affair and quietly got rid of a tamp after a student reported that my abuser had kissed him. 3 months later parents of a child filed a complaint with police and my abuser was arrested and convicted and sentenced to 3 years for 23 counts of sexual indecency with children. His name was Gavin Ross Mitchell (now deceased).

  • @sayYAYtooday

So the failure of the institution to go to police gave Mitchell a 3 month window in which to molest more children - just one of which was my brother who he got drunk and abused (this is all in the police records also).

It sucks... even though I have police records where I have given a statement to police and was officially one of his victims I now have no legal recourse. The NZ Government is a disgrace. I feel once again raped by the state. It's not right.

  • @sayYAYtooday Here's part of a letter that was sent to police by the head of the institution:

    17 Nov 1978

As requested I supply information on Gavin Mitchell, ex Assistant Housemaster at this school….

    2. Mr Mitchell resigned at my request following an investigation of a report by one pupil of Mr Mitchell allegedly kissing him.

    (rest following)

  • @sayYAYtooday

It is relevant to point out that Mr Mitchell’s general performance of his duties was not satisfactory and the incident prompted me to insist on termination of employment. Had Mr Mitchell not resigned, I would have given him notice…

The incident of the kissing of (edited out) was reported to (edited out) on August 15th… “

  • It is horrific what those children were made to go through. All as wards of the state. They received anything but protection. Shame, Shame, Shame! Thank you for sharing this video.
