@metalmusiqcrzy Yes it can do the modern high gain sound pretty well. Check out my video "EMG 85 Take 2". It shows the high gain sound that I used the most.
I was thinking of getting a spider valve 1x12 with a Strymon tube pre-amp mod with 3/4 back .
In this video does your Spider Valve 112 have a G12K 100 watt speaker just like your avatar? Also if the amp is 40 watts then why did you get a 100 watt speaker?
In this vid the SV had the 100 watt K-100 as well. It is perfectly fine to run high wattage speakers in a small combo. You wont be able to get any speaker cone breakup from them at that wattage but they still sound awesome ;-)
You got some chops. I'm customizing a Hiwatt and Vox 2-12 combos. Keep the axe, keep the speakers, but that Line 6 sounds like shit. Not your skills-- the last decent Line 6 was in early 90's. Nonetheless, I wanted to hear what G12k's sounded like in your rig-- but it still has that same sterile, dead Line 6 sound. Pick yourself up a Vox, Hiwatt or a Shiva-- you will fall in love with music all over again, But Line 6 amplification always sounds like toaster elements heating up.
I know what your saying man. I personally dont think its quite as bad as your saying but there is no comparison between a Line 6 and a classic tube amp, no doubt. My next amp will most likely be a Splawn QuickRod, I am hoping to be able to get one in a few months. Til then, I will be rockin' the Line 6 ;-)

Just got my Avatar 4x12 K-100 and V30 combo and WOW!!!! Drop D is absolutely amazing, cleans are phenominal. Great balance throughout. Speakers need to break in but so far I love it!
I dont have the beam blocker in mine, it really doesnt need it for the K-100's. Not sure how you could fix that, if its not too bad I wouldnt worry about it but I understand that it can be annoying LOL
you can get the 1x12 like for $800 and that 1x12 avatar on ebay like for $100 - $200 so thats like $950 plus your work on it and the pedal board WITH ALL pedals and cables for $1850
I have been gigging with it for a solid year and it still looks new, no chipping or peeling at all! I am really surprised at how well it is holding up!
It sounds alot fatter and thicker with the K-100. No more V30 icepick sound. The K-100's have a huge bottom end and is very tight. The top end is somewhat cut but its smoother sounder. A really great speaker IMO
What do you think about a V30/K-100 in 4x12. Im looking at Avatar now and wondering what would be a good combo for a HD100. Any ideas or are the K-100's the V30's. Love that K-100 sound.
I think that would be a good combo. I actually wish I would have kept the V30 from mine so I could try it in the closed back cab. I think it would be a good mix.
Awesome man, painting it was a pretty cool idea, thats one thing i never thought about painting. Sounds great. I still havent saved up enough money for this amp, I've wanted it now for like 6 months.
I think your sound is fine if you like it. However, I personally prefer the V30 for this amp. Also, for some strange reason, I don't like this amp in a 2x12 arrangement. The 1x12 sounds perfect to my ears. Your new speakers seem to have more 'balls' but they have lost some of the nice break up that comes with this amp (and what I really like about it). However, as I said, the amp is for you not me...
WIZY987 i have 2 2x12's one filled with v30's and one filled with k100's both together on my Spider Valve Amp head sound amazing for all styles k100s give a nice rich low while the v30's grab the highs amazingly. do it! also the marshall mode 4 4x12s come stock with k100s so take a look at those for decent cabs with these speakers in off the shelf.
The white looks great, and I absolutely LOVE the wah tone. Looking to put together a new 2x12 cab with the k-100s in the next few days, all thanks to you =P ha
ok i've been debating between the Celestion Vintage 30s and the G12K-100's i play on a tube peavey valveking at 50 watts. Mostly metal is what i play. Any tips for what to buy?
I think the K-100 is by far the better speaker especially for metal. It has alot more bottom end and more lower mids than the V30. It is alot smoother in the highs also. The V30 was just too harsh for my taste.
Your sound is amazing and I see that you listed the amp models and settings you're using but what are the presets that you're using that are giving you those incredible clean and overdrive tones.
I actually dont use any of the presets. I just pick the amp model and set everything to 12 o clock and tweak from there. I played with a few of the presets but I think its easier to just make my own LOL
Hey! nice Tone Brotha! I heard the Strymon pre amp kits are nice sounding also to these 112 and 212s I like the White tolex how did you get those? and that extra 112 cab? I play in a top 40 cover band thinking about these amps! keep Rockin!
The Strymon mod is awesome, worth the money for sure! The tolex is actually stock, I used a type of spray paint made for vinyl. The cab is an Avatar Contemporary 1x12 with a G12K-100 in it.
that clean tone sounds amazing, as do all the other channels :) could you please tell me your 4 settings, and do you think you could get as good of a tone without the g12k100?
Thanks for the compliments! You can get good tones from the V30, it was just too harsh for me and at gig volume it had the famed V30 "icepick" that wouldnt go away. The k-100 is nice and fat without the harshness. As for settings:
Clean: blue crunch, gain 2, bass 5, mid 7, treble 5, pres. 2
dist. 1: Blue metal: gain 7, bass 5, mid 7, treb 5, pres. 2 w/ boost
dist. 2 (plexi type): Blue crunch, gain 6, bass 5, mid 7, treb 7, pres 2 w/ boost and tape echo
I am using the amber crunch patch for that tone. Gain 2 o clock, bass 12 o clock, mid 2 o clock, treble 2 o clock, presence 9 o clock. I cant remember the delay setting, I will have to look. The boost and noise gate are both on.
Great clip...Sounds great bro...really great...Mav is a friend of mine and I turned him onto you and your awesome tone...... great tone bro keep up the jams..... Ray
The K100's have tons of bottom end, if you couldnt tell from the clip LOL. You can hear when I kick on my distortion it makes the H2 clip a little bit from the low end.
does the spider valve combo have modern high gain and does it sound digital i want sper modern high gain i been looking at a randall t2c hybrid.

@metalmusiqcrzy No, it does just fine without one. I only used the boost with this amp for solos.

As you get to create that clean? I have my spider valve 212 and does not sound so clean. What type of amp you use? that EQ? Svpre you use?
Thank you very much, I hope your answer.

I am using the SVpre, I think the channel I used for the clean is the amber crunch setting with the gain turned down.

What kind of cab should i buy for a Line 6 Spider Valve if I want to go louder, but not insane amount of budget

You wont have to go any louder than the 212 unless you play stadiums. That's my 2 cents.
