ahh one of my favorites songs of Dokken im 14 and me and my dad rock out to this in the truck i just wish i lived in the 80's were there was awsome movies and sweet dirtbikes, rock, heavy metal, country songs(cant forget about the nice country music to) man i wish i lived in the 80's DOKKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
@glui2001 Don't forget that this was targeted towards a TEEN audience back then. Heavy metal was strictly for young people, not like these days where even 50 year olds listen to it. Todays times don't make much sense.
All the idiots commenting here on how the video is "cheesy", think about what I just wrote.
@DreamWarrior87 Oh hey, I grew up in the 80's. Listened to butt rock and whatever else MTV threw your way back then. I say "cheesy" in a very fond and nostalgic way :) Hell I now listen to all those european power metal bands. Talk about "cheesy"
However of all those 80's glam bands I'd have to say that Dokken and Cinderella stands out in the bunch IMO.
Wow, what a blast from the past!!! I was at the Dokken & Great White concert in the 8's and they so blew the house away! Don sang a extra remmenition of Alone with out music and I knew what it was, being my fav, and I screamed my bloody head off!! LOL I saw them again with Aero Smith at the Forum, but no one seemed to be into them, not like me and my friends. It kind of sucked, but they were great as usual! Wish I could find the guitar music to Alone, I use to know the beginning. :( Not anymore!
@SymptomaticF1end What?! He sounds exactly the same in Breaking the Chains and Tooth and Nail! Both have extremely amazing vocals by Don, so what the hell are you talking about?
...There sure aren't alot of guitarists left alive who can even approach George Lynch & his technical guitar skill, special riff effects and playing, that's for sure, I caught "Dokken" and "Ratt" both on their 1st tours back in "the good old days" , early 1980's, and W-O-W, talk about seeing a once-in-a-lifetime concert at each show, I miss those days (daze..??LOL) BADLY....!! Chef David210.............10/06/11
@kvhun the main point is^ cool bands like shotgun messiah, skid row, kik tracee suffered and lost their carreers in the early 90's due to shitty acts like Dokken and Britny fox coz the last ones gave bad name to rocknroll
A lot of people think Dokken suck but they're narrow-minded beyond belief. Dokken have a really unique, earthy yet dreamy and sombre sound no other band has. I think they rule!
@VoyeurDreamer A lot of people don't know what real music is. They are deaf sheeps controlled by media and think that today's music or the 90s is good.
@DreamWarrior87 The 90's was a horrid, terrible, repulsively gay decade. I'm surprised I survived through it. After 93' it got worse and worse. Who wants to listen to Nirvana and Collective Soul? I fucking don't.
@VoyeurDreamer Right on, it's what fucked up EVERYTHING, movies, music, entertainment in general. And even things outside of that, like the shitty clothes; plaid shirts, oversized pants, backward caps. The only good thing about it was some of the early 90s shows for kids I watched that parents complained were too violent.
What I can't understand is why I never hear anyone say that the 90s or even todays decade is "cheesy". There is much more crap in one year of these two decades
@DreamWarrior87 I respect your opinion but your wrong about the 90's sucked it was actually a good decade excluding boy bands, etc but the rock/metal is good. I understand that you like the 1980's metal/rock scene which it is your preference but I still think the 90's is a good decade but now the 2000-2012 era is bullshit so I can give you credit of saying that this decade sucked
@MrGrunge1991 Yes, I lived in the 90s so I know how things were. grunge back then was generally ignored, everyone was either into rap crap, techno rap called "eurodance", pop and electro music. If grunge was that good for people, they wouldn't have switched from 80s metal to rap or electro pop. It actually made the public loose interest in rock and go towards rap.
If you would be familiar with other lesser known 80s metal bands, you wouldn't say 90s rock is great, trust me.
@DreamWarrior87 true but it was always about business plus it was the changing of the times people actually had enough of the 1980's metal/rock and wanted something different so the alternative rock/grunge scene happen as for rap,etc I really enjoyed old school rap and hip hop also Anthrax and Aerosmith did a duet with Public Enemy and Run-DMC respectively
@MrGrunge1991 Although Dokken is great and one of the first bands that got me into metal, don't think that this is everything that metal/rock was in the 80s. Lots of very interesting stuff outside of the US in those times was happening as well.
@VoyeurDreamer I used to think they were just another pop/glam/hair/arena/corporate/stadium/commercial/mainstream metal band. But after listening to a few more songs from them, they became my second favourite band. (After Def Leppard)
@VoyeurDreamer Under Lock and Key would be their best album. It's got two really awesome album tracks called Unchain the Night & Lightnin Strikes Again. They some of Dokken's best songs. Every album from the 80s is an absolute classic. Their 90s stuff is very average while their new album is not too bad.
@kvhun i respect your point of view, but let's start from the lyrics - motley's and ratt's lyrics are really interesting with hidden sense - what about Dokken? - "we're metal warriors, we will rock the world," - c'mon
it's ridiculous when adult writes this kinda kid's stuff!
2nd thing - videos come on i laughed my ass off when i watched Breaking the chains video hahaha this thing with releasing bandmates with help of guitar hahahah
Its no secret. Everyone knows I am not a fan of George Lynch. I don't like his style. His solos are so redundant. They lack melody. He is more of a speed metal guitarist. Megadeth could have done good things with him.
I will always be a fan of George's crispy solos... There is only one other metal band who has combined melody and power... the lone exception ? --> Dream Theater.
"THE WALLS AROUND YOU, CLOSING IN, YOU NEED A CHANGE". Oh, how I can relate to that man!! I mean, with all the bullshit I've been through, losing my job, etc., I would love to break the chains and be free of all stress and all the bullshit, and just be happy and have a good job and a good life.
Thank God for YouTube, where I can listen to whatever song I like, and I really relate to rock music more than anything!!!
@kvhun You are so right! Only now guess what? There are now 5 idiots!!! WTF is up with that? Why the hell does YouTube NOT disable the dislike button and replace it with a love button? We are the ones that know good music such as Dokken!!
WE ARE THE ONES THAT KEEP THE SPIRIT OF HEAVY METAL ALIVE!!! HELL YEAH!!!
i so love campy 80s videos. MTV Gen right here. As far as whatever someone is callin ridiculous about this vid, alot of 80s vids were like this one. Rock of Ages by Def Leppard and Rock You Like a Hurricane by The Scorpions were 2 of mention. Campy but fun to watch for nostaligia sake YEAH
great song! great band! the video was the vintage 80s cheese lol. but u gota admit the part with the chains breaking during the solo was EPIC! but i agree with fallout the girl was terrible!!!
@diegoalce1991 First off .. the video is from 1983 so cut it some slack. How many rock videos from 1983 had great production quality? I'm sure Dokken can look back on this video today and laugh their asses off. For me, it's very nostalgic because I was 13 years old when I saw this for the first time and these guys were bigger than life. \m/
@Louvers i know it, but the fact is that many of the shots had no sense and are pathetic (the chained members at the solo for example or the "luke skydokken" bed)
@diegoalce1991 I believe we have a consensus here that your opinion is definitely in the minority. If you had lived and experienced these times Diego, you would understand that in 1983 just about "anything goes" was the mantra of music videos. As has already been stated by others ... there were A LOT of great rock songs that had videos of a similar nature. Anyway ... rock on my friend. I know that at the very least you can appreciate the music. \m/
@Louvers only one from 83 is too young to fall in love. im 22 but a music historian. This is what the early hair metal movement looked and sounded like, cheesy as it may be
Sucks to be the drummer in the vid because all can do is head bang will lynch ad the rest do the bits a pieces because they all have guitars

i so love campy 80s videos.

@Slaughterpit666 it isn't right?
the video is totally RIDICULOUS
diegoalce1991 11 months ago
@diegoalce1991 First off .. the video is from 1983 so cut it some slack. How many rock videos from 1983 had great production quality? I'm sure Dokken can look back on this video today and laugh their asses off. For me, it's very nostalgic because I was 13 years old when I saw this for the first time and these guys were bigger than life. \m/

@Louvers 83! I know you know Louvers! Def Leppard Music videos of 83 are awesome =D Love your channel!

@Louvers i know it, but the fact is that many of the shots had no sense and are pathetic (the chained members at the solo for example or the "luke skydokken" bed)
diegoalce1991 11 months ago
@diegoalce1991 I believe we have a consensus here that your opinion is definitely in the minority. If you had lived and experienced these times Diego, you would understand that in 1983 just about "anything goes" was the mantra of music videos. As has already been stated by others ... there were A LOT of great rock songs that had videos of a similar nature. Anyway ... rock on my friend. I know that at the very least you can appreciate the music. \m/

@Louvers only one from 83 is too young to fall in love. im 22 but a music historian. This is what the early hair metal movement looked and sounded like, cheesy as it may be
