  • This film is sort of like the original "Raging Bull". It's also the best baseball movie ever made. The theme of an insane protagonist is one that Robert Mulligan would return to later in his career in "The Other", "The Nickel Ride" and even a lesser movie like "Kiss Me Goodbye".

  • Perkins was perfect for exacting the dramatic aspect of the film, but I think they should've had someone that was more athletically-inclined - he can't throw a ball for shit! That irritation aside, good film.

  • i loved this movie as a kid (aka young, impressionable girl). brings back memories. thanks!

  • Come hanno fatto a non dare mai un Oscar ad Anthony Perkins?

  • oh my god.iam still in shock, what a talent.pure and innocent and erotic

  • This movie was probably Perkins's finest acting. He was absolutely terrific!

  • You're Gay,suspiria, Not that there's any thig wrong with that. lol.

  • some say the actual tony perkins was a little bit of a lunatic...

  • This movie is from 1957, but Piersall want on the play until 1967 and continued to do some wacky things after 1957.

  • Like what?

  • Ran the bases facing backwards when he hit his 100th home run. He was a Met at the time. Man, I wish they had footage of that.

  • this is really great

  • This was fantastic! I love this movie, the music you used was great, too.

  • amazing, very well done.

  • Tony's performance is so intense in this film... it's a wonder how he never got an Oscar nomination. Great tribute! I especially like how you ended it.

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I read that the shooting of Fear Strikes Out was difficult for Tony, as he was tormented by the movie crew nonstop. Ridiculed for being gay, they even banned Tab Hunter (boyfriend at time)from visiting Tony on the set for lunch breaks. So when it finally came time for the "breakdown" scene, he was stressed out so badly that he just went totally ballistic. Poor guy.

  • Yeah, I assume there must have been some great tension because Tab Hunter badly wanted to portray Piersall in the film, as he had on television. Poor Tony, he really lived his roles.
