I don't care whether it is seen as art or not by anyone. The subject here is extreme cruelty to animals. Guillermo Vargas has starved a dog to death, he lied about it and changed his story several times and finally did not even say what happened to the dog in the end. The dog was seen at the exhibit for several days, not for 3 hours. Nobody said anything, nobody fed the dog, nobody gave him water, nobody called for help, nobody confronted the artist. Vargas should be executed.

There is a film on YouTube of the entire time span, the dog was not even starving in the beginning, he had normal weight. Vargas starved him to death to be provocative only in order to force humans to pay attention to him as an artist. Now the gallery wants him to do this same exhibit again with another dog. Actually, with the all the shocked people who viewed his exhibited, it was stated that not one of them tried to help the dog, feed it, or call the police, which showcases man's hypocrisy. I love animals, but don't have the time or money to take in every stray, so I can't fuss about the starving animals I see, especially when he himself didn't starve the dog, but simply took him off the streets for a display. I feel that any ART that comes at forcefully hurting another person, or animal should not be aloud to take place, the merit of the art does not equal the cost of the suffering of another being, but if such things do happen i would hope the reaction of people that see this art is not to sign petitions, or cry, but to help were they can do real good, volunteer at a shelter, adopt a pet, or simply spade or neuter your pet to help control the population.

IF and I do stress IF the dog lived, and the story of him picking up a sick dog off the street is true, then I would have to say this is good ART, Not only that it opened up peoples eyes to the fact that not everything is right in the world, and that animals need to be treated more humanly. Anyone who thinks this is art should seek help! and even if he did feed the dog or give it water, there is still the case of that apparently he found the dog emaciated on the street, if he did this the first thing to do would be to take the dog to a qualified vet and check the health of the animal not to tie the dog up for critics to look at it! surly the dog had suffered enough without it being put into a room on a cold hard floor for hours while people paid money to look at the poor creature!
