You know what they could have done was made John Get on the rope with him or have John tell the terminator that the police were after them and that they would not be safe. Great movie but disappointed that James Cameron forgot about that. The Terminator could have stayed with them for a while till he would be sure they were safe.

This scene truly explores movie magic it really holds the x factor for the reasons to watch it and call your friends and say hey I was gonna watch this wanna come over the next day. I had to be 7 or 8 when I first seen it and it was undoubtly a reason why I wanted to be a film maker. He remembered that the T-800 somehow had to obey him and we can feel, from the firmness and determination growing into despair in his voice, that he's clinging to it as the very last hope he has to save his protector, whom has become his friend and father figure also. :'(

While it was somewhat nice to see more terminator movies; they should have stopped at 2. Sarah in the first was lead down a road to become more Cynical of the future, but then in the 2nd she in the end become a bit more Optimistic. So while the story is about John, the real story is about Sarah, as she comes to grips that there is some hope about the future and relation between man and machine, because the terminator was able to understand human emotions.

What's really hard is when the T-800 says "I have to go away John" you can tell that it's trying to emote but cannot, being a robot. Hence the line "I see why now you cry..." because it's the only way it can show that it understands human emotion but cannot ever hope to express it. It's heartbreaking to watch. Everyone talks about Arnold not being able to emote or act and only succeeding as an emotionless robot. But that's what made him give a performance that many actors would kill for.

I'm male and 27 and I'm not ashamed to say that this scene makes me cry every time I see it. It's truly an accomplishment when watching Arnold Schwarzenegger getting incinerated can get you choked up. This film is a masterpiece.

Too bad Hollywood had to tarnish it's legacy with that god awful shit stain known as T3 Rise of the Machines. Words cannot express how much I fucking hate that movie!

you know what ? actually you are right ! according to the script to T2, the movie begins with a scene where Connor destroys finally skynet - right after skynet sends the T1000 back in time. Connor sends his old buddy back and "knows what happens" ... so Terminator 2 tells how the Terminator saves connor from T1000 and the connor in the future lead the humanity to victory - the end.

I love the extreme edition with Kyle's cameo. I only consider T1 & T2 canon. I think it's beautiful they altered the future & destroyed cyberdyne, the arm & CPU of the 1st Terminator. I think Sarah not only did it for the world but for Reese as well. So when he's born he can grow up an easy life, rather then fighting against the machines.
