  • CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP!

  • Good colour scheme.

  • why does it need a deisel behind it? i thought these things were beasts? or is hauling a really long load?

  • i live on the oregon coast. and they used to log with steam trains. and i used to work in the woods trapping animals. and i would come across tracks out in the middle of know where, amazing to think what those people went thrue to get lumber for our houses. they also used to use steam donkeys. and they are like bull dozer with a winch they pull them selves around with. then they hook on to a log and drag it over to the train with the winch ran by stream. and i met i guy that has 1 cylander steam

  • is there any steam trains laying around anywhere. or are they all stored or scrapped somewhere. to restore some how. i couldnt just curious. and it would be sad to lose such a historic thing.

  • @michaelstanger CN 6077 is on display in Capreol Ontario, amongst many others around the world on display. Check out the Ottawa Science and Technology museum aswell...

  • 2816 was converted to oil during the restoration in 1998-2001. Reason for that is its easier to get then coal. There are no operational coal towers left on the CP, so coal is not the best for it. While diesel is common, pricey but common. If they need fuel, they could just call up Esso or Shell and have a truck on the way. Most CP Locomotives still burnt coal until they were retired. A handful were built as oil burners, such as the last order of Hudsons. But most of the fleet burnt coal.

  • I stand corrected!

    Thanks for the info.

  • From what I understand, all the CP locos where converted to oil way back when they were still in regular use, not in 1998, as iggyjill says.

Keep in mind that coal needs to be shoveled into the firebox.

  • @TooTallDean Technically, not "shoveled" most coal-burning engines the size of 2816 would be equipped with an automatic stoker.

  • What is the point in having a coal burning locomotive and then convert it to oil when the price of oil is ridiculously high. Surely it's cheaper for Canadian Pacific to leave it coal burning.

  • It was converted from coal to oil many years ago, I believe.

  • it was converted from 1998 yto 2001 from a coal to oil burner so your right

  • anybody know that this locomotive burns diesel fuel?

  • it burns crude oil from what the crew told me

  • why couldnt she sound like this last year when she passed thorough regina both times?
