vista basic has no mediacenter included, only vista home premium and vista ultimate. there is no way to download it or something, you can only upgrade to a better version of vista, then you will get the mediacenter

i own a x360. its too much trouble to even have this on ur console. my ps3 can get media from practically anything with a usb port and that simple program to stream media from pc also. i wouldn't bother installing windows xp media center costs too much money.

I used the latest build of Vista (5472) and disconnected my 360 from my XP machine.Then used the notification icon on Vista that was telling me about a new xbox detected. Then you enter the code from the xbox and Vista does the rest. It took about 10mins or so to get working.

If you have XP Media Centre Edition...then it might work... (the one between XP and Vista) or try downloading Media Centre
