Nationalism is inherently illogical. Nationalism is about cultural identity of who belongs and who doesn't belong. The hundreds of years of cultural and historical connection b/w Chinese and Tibetan society is undeniable. So, therefore, who should be the arbiter on whose nationalism is the correct one? The Chinese one where Tibet is part of China or the Tibetan one where Tibet is not part of China? When it comes to nationalism, there's no rationality, just emotion and blood.

Go ask the monpas in Tawang who were taxed to hell by the Tibetan officials. When India grabbed Tawang from Tibet in Feb 1951 by force, the Monpas cheered that they got rid of the Tibetans.

In '47 during Regent Reting's coup, 100+ monks from Sera were killed and Sera Monastery was looted. Reting was imprisoned and died mysteriously. A notice was posted in Potala to warn anyone who dared question the cause.
