Because today in 1974 more than 60000 people lost their homes in cause of an cruel earthquake in Peru. Nearly 100 people died. Every country has good and hard times. While Machu Picchu is an amazing and spectacular place, I agree that there are so many more reasons to visit Peru than only to see Machu Picchu. It is an incredibly diverse and beautiful country. I visited there 6 years ago and I am wanting to go back again soon and see more places. I think next time I will visit Iquitos and the amazon.
