  • Ray from London likes to try to push you off mount with straight arms, so please punish him with this technique!! great video guys thanks.

  • Yo this happen to me yesterday. This due was trying to muscle me out the mount and turned and gave me his arm lol. I was like wow did he just do that. lol

  • haha, T-city is just chilling there

  • great for the mat bad for the street! concrete will rip your face!!

  • @1lostinspace Not if your technique is good.

Not that it really feels good to have your face down on the concrete, but trust me, having your elbow hyper-extended is infinitely worse.

  • @MrGarky

really how do you go face down on the street? In my 17 years I have never been able to figure it out, I guess there is still so much to learn like how to get your face ripped up. First of all if you have been in a real street fight you would know that the last thing you want to do is hit the ground

  • @1lostinspace I'm a police officer so yes, I've been in real street fights and if *you* have been in any real fights, you would know that you will NOT come out of it unscathed, especially against a stronger opponent. Don't be scared to endure a little pain if it means neutralizing your opponent. If you are that timid, you need to find a new hobby.

But I do agree that you don't want to go to the ground in a real fight. You don't always have a choice against skilled or larger opponents, however.

  • @MrGarky I'm a white belt and this has worked for me several times against bigger guys......

    ?!

  • @beargrylls3 Good to hear it. lol

I have no problem with this move. Enjoy it.

  • @1lostinspace Regardless, this is a defense against the sweep. It's not your MAIN ATTACK, it's a reactionary submission that could save you from ending up on bottom.

  • @MrGarky

Ah no thanks I rather not go to my stomach and put my shin on the back of his head and there is plenty of pressure there barring him there.

I would never go for that, the guy I roll with would not be caught in low percentage stuff like that, you ll end up on the bottom taking elbows.

  • @1lostinspace Trained grapplers normally don't push up off your chest that way, either.

But do what you've got to do man. Every martial artist has his own style. If you don't like this technique, nobody says you need to use it. But there's no reason to knock it.

If you're going to tell someone this technique sucks, go tell the Gracies, I'm sure they'll be grateful for your expert advice, maybe you can do their next video.

  • @1lostinspace Watch the video again, his shoulder hits the ground and not his face.

  • @57worldwide

    For me it's now percentage

  • @57worldwide

Why do I need to watch the video? I am familiar with that tech, I am also know what happens if it fails and you end up on you back.

  • @1lostinspace Right. Don't bother watching the video again.

Remember, this is not 'what to do against an accomplished grappler'.

  • @57worldwide

I am not talking about an accomplished grappler. Just bad timing wrong angle or just a very strong guy that can pick you up and slam you on your head before you secure the leg to prevent it from happening. I am not sure why your getting so defensive. It's just not the move I would use that's all.

  • @1lostinspace I wasn't getting defensive at all. Maybe you could just stay home, avoiding every possibility where you might end up in a fight. That might work.

It's not 'what you should do', it's 'technique of the month'. Do you have a video with what you would do in this situation? I would definitely like to see any other techniques.

  • @57worldwide

I do stay home and avoid situations. What I would do is extend my right leg basing out, yeah I give up an elbow escape but still maintain top position worse case we are back up where my Muay thai and wrestling would take care of business. Not sure if you train or fight but this is not a move you want to be doing on the street. The last thing you want to do in a street fight is end up on the ground and even worse on your back. Have you ever been in a street fight on the ground?

  • @1lostinspace I got fucked up when I was 18. I didn't do any kind of training (and I still don't) and was way too drunk. A guy stopped and got out of their car and fucked me up. At the time, I thought I would never be mentally the same, but it was mostly in my head. Now I'm mentally beyond where I was at 18, in a way I'm lucky it happened when I was that age.

The shitty thing about it was that I wasn't by myself, and one of the guys with me just stood there and didn't do shit.

  • @57worldwide

    that sucks

  • @1lostinspace Yeah, it sucks because just before it happened I was talking about jumping in if one of my mates was getting jumped. I'm lucky that one guy who was with me did something, a Brazilian exchange student. That's in the past now and I learnt from it. Extremely valuable lessons: don't get too drunk; don't hang around with people who are too cowardly to try to stop something happening to their friends. I still go out and get drunk, even by myself. I'm bigger now. Used to be 6' and >154lb.

  • @57worldwide

I am sorry to hear that happen to you. I am not proud to say that I have been in a lot of street fights and private security and lucky to be a live. I have been involved in the MMA sport teaching and training for 17 years now. When I was at the Gracie academy Rener and the others were little kids. BBJ is a great sport and can be used in a street fight but biting and getting jumped makes a lot of the techniques obsolete.

  • @1lostinspace I can't be sorry because I moved on. It was a life changing experience, in that I had to start growing mentally. I'm bigger now, not taller but heavier. Shit like that doesn't happen to me now, I think because I'm bigger and can recognise situations before they develop. I get angry pretty easily, that's the only thing wrong when I feel threatened. I get mad.

I couldn't watch someone I'm with get punched on the ground, that was the irony in the situation. I learnt from the mistake.

  • I love how they always try to sell their gear in all the videos

    - good video though!

  • noone understands how amazing and effective jiujitsu is until they try it, i can see how ppl think it's not effective but you HAVE TO experience it to understand.

  • No kidding dude. My friend that I spar with has trained in BJJ for 9 years and just before my first time sparring I thought I would take him no problem (mainly because im quite a bit stronger then him) but then we started....... after he dodged every punch I threw, he slammed me with a double leg takedown and choked me out with my own arm........ Im getting better but he still kicks my ass. Since then I got all the respect I can give to jiujitsu fighters of all kinds. peace

  • @Jeffrey4286 So true. It may not look effective at first but once you try it for yourself and see the universe it is insane how big it is. There are no limits in this.

  • @Jeffrey4286

    Yup!

  • It easily makes the attacker more aggressive,Go to gracie Univertisitys website,go to there forum, and ask ANY question,The Gracies will answer it within an hour. BJJ/GJJ was MADE for the street,Oh and By the way,When you are Jumped Please tell me how you remain balanced while 2 or more guys are punching you down? So quit Poking at little things about this amazing art. Train in BJJ,Your eyes will open.

  • I love how everyone Puts down gracie Jiu Jitsu. Its so pathetic. The Gracies can kick your asses dont you see that? But there nice guys so they will do it with Manners. The same reasons people say its bad. "Oh youll get your head punted" "Hit him in the balls" "gouge" First off, your a fucking idiot if you try to fight more than 1 on 1. Second,The eyes are to small a target, and you have to be still for a long time to get gouged there, second,Groin shots ar not the fight stopper you think,

  • and who the hell are u mikel2187 to say such a thing? have u been in a streetfight before? Royce Gracie has f*cked combatants up with this move in early UFCs while ur still sucking ur mama's n*pples

  • ur stupid its a fight dumbshit not gun fight

  • no its not ur stupid

  • ur an ideot

  • u just proved ur an idiot by not being able to spell idiot

  • soz man u to gangsta u go an armbar people in the street see how long u last

  • see u have nu clue if u break someones arm they cant even hit u dumbass

  • what a waste of space and life.

  • who?

  • well if youz a gangsta lmao you think your gangster anyways if your from the hood you have no idea how to get out of an armbar dymbshit

  • I guess Belly down is really a misnomer

  • Sweet thanks.. got to mix this up with

    my kicking.

  • jah-mazing

  • This is the move that Royce used on Jason Delucia in UFC 2. The most amazing submission I've seen to this day. Long live the Gracie's!

  • long live sakuraba :P

  • Noguiera did it to Crocop too ^_^

  • hahaha :"you know why? we got the gracie dryfit t-shirts on" "especially when you wear the dry fit" nice commercial and nice technique ;)

  • yeah this is one of my best submissions and finishers

  • NICE :)

  • dats crazy

  • Yeah, you can finish from the knees with the shin on the head. I learned it that way from Relson Gracie.

  • excellent

  • Great! I like to force the knee/shin into the head, rather then step over/around the head, to help encourage them to move their head :)

  • Nice details! :-)
