manavk my brother thank you i listen to your music and it's so touching please pass this gift to other's to play i would give my life to learn something like that ......,,,,,,, once again thanks my brother
Raag Durga is the name for the Raag he is playing. Raags are skeletal outlines for music. Raags dictate the notes used and the general mood of the tune. They are similar to "modes" in western music. There are many "gats" or written melodies in each Raag. The instrument is called a dilruba.
I am from Pakistan. I just wanted to let you know that you work magic with your instrument. I wasnt aware of the beauty of the Esraj prior to watching you play it. I dont quite understand why it doesnt have the same significance as the Sitar, Veena or Sarangi.
Thank you for uploading this video. I know it's been here for a while but I only saw it recently. Wish you all the best.
Wow, just wow. So beautiful... you play so wonderfully!! Thank you for showing us such a beautiful performance. It really touches the core of one's emotions...

Very good. Reminds me of a chinese pentatonic scale. Which do you prefer esraj or dilruba? Thanks

what do you keep to keep your israj balanced, i use a tabla bina (tabla ring). maybe its because of the way i sit, i sit cross-legged.

Manavk, the Tanpura sound. Is that your instrument, an electronic device, or some one we don't see playing Tanpura?
You videos are my favorite.
dantheartisan 3 years ago
Thank you It's an electronic device; Its sole purpose is to play back the Tanpura sound endlessly . It can be tuned to match the scale you are using.

@galatabjk Harmtatla mentioned the name.
Dudes who r wearing this headwear are not smurfs at all.
(kids are so creative calling names) Cutting the hair is not allowed, there is only one 9od, no matter how many faces he shows.
Find out more to educate yourself.
I wil see, even study more of Manavk's clips to educate my western ear in the "arts of the missing tones"
(the west has only the black and white notes: -\)
(took me about 3 yrs to get here and thank Manavk for the vids)
