Every single one of you saying Officer Gudger is in the wrong or did something incorrect may be an absolute idiot and needs their psyche checked. She saved over a thousand students and staff in that building from being even scratched in that ordeal. The only one harmed was the one coming in intent on causing harm to others. Hence the reason she was awarded and a finalist for america's most wanted all-star for 2011. Enough said.
@cvprepboy Are you saying you would've let him shoot you, and then go on to kill who knows how many others? I was there that day. It was the scariest day of my life. Its obvious you've never been in this kind of situation. The sheriff even said that she did the right thing.
WOW!!!! im so very disappointed in the officer, take her badge away.... This officer is a risk to her department, citizens. I hope the department reviews this tape and show them to other departments on what not to do, I am a 11 years as Deputy Sheriff, and I have never seen a officer act in this manor. Officer C. Gudger if I was you go resign and have another career while you can still have one.
I am a trainer for a State Police Academy. This video shocks me to my very core. What Officer Gudger should have done was shoot the suspect when he produced the firearm. She unnecessarily jeopardized her life, the principals life and the innocent man walking down the hall. If you think that this is how a well trained police officer acts then you are mistaken. You point a gun at an officer you will be shot! We will now use this video as "What NOT to do" in this situation.
Hats off to officer Gudger. She showed a tremendous amount of restraint. In my opinion when he pulled his gun she should have taken him out right then. Don't shoot him in the leg. Put one between his eyes. Anyone whyo brings a gun to school, regardless if they love their dog, limps or whatever they are up to no good.
Saint Michael was truly there that day... Thank you God for Officer Gudger whose care, bravery and action saved and protected countless innocent lives that day.
Thank you to ALL LEOs for risking your lives everyday for us. May God watch over you at all times.

i saw this man on average 3 -5 times a week at my work, he was always courteous, had a limp / handicap, loved his dog, just seemed like a nice man, something had to set him off, but from the yrs ive seen him come in my work, i highly doubt he wouldve hurt anyone & i have heard the same opinion from many many others.. i think extreme measures were taken that definitely were not needed, i was not close to the man but i do not see a reason he should have been killed.. grudger is no hero in my book
@svg23 Did you not see the gun pointed at the officer. If I was in her place, along with 99% of the well trained officers would have shot the suspect the moment the suspect starts to bring the gun up... Common sense. I think grudger needs a new career she is not fit for law enforcement.
@ArmaEditor i dont agree with the shoot 1st ask questions later theory no wonder the world is how it is. there was many others ways to apprehend the character. do you know how many ppl have or will point a gun & it not be loaded at all & you are saying kill them. there are many ways to neutralize ppl in these matters without killing every1, according to the video there was a many chances to shoot him in the arm / leg or other areas besides a death shot
@svg23 You don't understand the law nor have you ever been in that situation. Any officer will assume that you plan on killing him or her, they have a family. If you have a gun most will not second guess shooting you. Sure they feel bad, but they feel good they can hug their kids tonight. Go to odmpdotorg and see how many officers will not see their kids tonight. Officers NEVER shoot for the arm or legs, shooting the gun is considered lethal force. Therefore you shoot to kill only.
@ArmaEditor do you know how many officers do not care about killing some1 because they have this god complex. why is it when you disagree with some1 they always assume you do not know the law. as i said there are many ways to neutralize a suspect without killing them. what i find pathetic is their excuse of killing because they thought they saw a weapon, yet no weapon found on the scene. cops shoot no matter what & it is uncalled for.what about the ppls familys because of cops over reacting
@svg23 you also must take into consideration at the number of lives that have been saved because of cops...look'em up there on youtube ..I DO NOT agreee with police brutality or wrongful shootings but in this situation...the case is closed. Her life and many other lives could have been taking here.
@svg23 your are wrong in all aspects...no if and or buts...no offense but don't care how nice a person is...even if your jesus, once u go around waving a gun especially to officers then these are the procedures/circumstances that must be followed let alone if there are innocent lives at risk...no matter what you may say or feel, im sorry to come off abrupt but you have no argument. the officer did a poor job at securing and fulfilling her duties as a cop
The SRO and two other officers shot the man after the video ended. The SRO is a hero she used her brains to get him to an area of the school so that no stray bullets could hit kids or staff.
I'm sorry. I am glad no one was hurt, but I would have been furious if my child was in that school building. If he would have shot the SRO who knows what would have happened. He needed to be neutralized and there was ample opportunity to do so. I thank God that nothing happened. Way too much restraint in my humble opinion. Anyone that would walk into a school building with a firearm is not going to be rational....
The actual stand-off begins at the three minute mark but the gunman can be seen walking around in the front doors of the school before then. The audio of the 911 call can be heard starting around three minute thirty second mark but you have to turn your volume up. Amazing restraint on the part of the officer.

@keithowen Agreed. As a school superintendent, I have to agree fully. It's not about being on a power trip, it's about protecting those kids.

I is a miracle that this female security officer was not killed. I would have dropped him in the foyer 10 minutes ago.

Once he pulled the gun the time for talk and negotiation was over. I am glad no one got hurt but she should have dropped his ass long before she did.
