  • I never get tired of Coltrane's interpretation of this tune. Amazing how they transformed this Musical tune to a Jazz Raga - sheer meditation.

  • Does anyone know if Trane and Dolphy recorded this tune together (with Dolphy on Flute)? Obv. Trane recorded countless versions of My Favorite Things but are there any on record with Dolphy on Flute? I'm guessing one of the countless live European concerts will have a version, but does anyone know for certain? Thanks,

    eA.

I have a CD dated 2000 with the label name Just Jazz. There are only three tracks starting with My Favorite Things which goes on for 19:11 with Trane's regular group and Dolphy on the flute.. Incredible!!! Mr. P.C. and Miles' Mode are the other two tracks. No reference to where or when originally recorded, just the credits and the title, John Coltrane Quintet with Eric Dolphy.

  • This is one of the greatest live performances in all of music. They way the band slowly takes off at the 1 minute mark. Coltrane Lives.

  • Thank you Eric Dolphy and friends. Sounds still very, very good!

  • I have uploaded a slightly better video in terms of quality.

Hope you'll enjoy it. Keep up the good work and may John Coltrane sounds live forever ... <3

  • Happy Birthday John!

  • eric dolphy is a true sir!
