  • My children are my blue sky. How blessed I am!!

  • I hear this song and all i think of is country roads, corner stores, Summer, Popsicles, Pick up trucks, not a care in the world. Good times.

  • Anything of value concerning, literature or music that has a distinct American flavor comes from the south, where else could it?

  • and they wonder why people call this America

  • I was 25 years old and living in Huntington Beach, California when I bought this album (Eat A Peach) in the summer of 1972. Life was really good; I was working for an airline up at LAX, and had just the absolute best group of friends. I can still remember Blue Sky playing (my favorite cut on the double album) in the background ~ everyone sitting on the floor, smoking weed & drinking Coors ~ and just so happy. I had come home from Vietnam in Nov '70 ~ living life @ 185 miles an hour.

  • I have my music exam next month. This is my piece. My God it is fun, challeging and amazing to play.

  • 45 years ago, the clan and I were deep into the Brothers, we lived along the mountain borders between Va. and W.Va.......we all busted loose when Joni recorded the "

    Hissing of Summer Lawns.........

  • STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN CAN KISS MY ASS

I CAN LISTEN TO BLUE SKY ALL FUCKING DAY

  • @niggaT42000 I'm not for swearing but I'm with you. Got a huge laugh - thanks.

  • back in the day....

  • solo not long enough

  • good, but bring it the heavy stuff....hard psychodelic blues

  • puts me in such a good mood!

  • Don't know what Betts did to get thrown out of the ABB in 2000 but it must've been really bad. Band needs their most creative member but I don't think it'll ever happen.

  • @EnlightenedRogue I believe it was due to continued substance abuse, but yeah, there is no Allman brothers band without Dickey Betts, its a Joke that Gregg still attempts to tour wihout either of the 2 reasons why the Allmans were great, aka Dickey and Duane.

  • @cgraber AMEN !!!! GLAD THERE ARE STILL SOME OF US AROUND WHO KNOW THE TRUTH!

  • @kungfurabbit71 I hear you brother. There were no two guitarists that played better together in the entire 20th century. The concept of dual leads and interchanges like they pulled off was essentially something they invented as they went along. Always copied, but never pulled off as well by any two guitarist groups since.

  • Every time I play this tune I get chills, this version though. There was genius in the air when the tune was created I doubt I will ever hear a song again that is as beautiful and means so much to me It is not just music, it is my life.

  • @Kitandroxandbec

Hi, I'm with you all the way. This song is beyond belief. Since you're such a fan, I assume you've played this game. Let's do it. Blue Sky is famous for having 2 guitarists, one coming in over the other at a certain point. Where do you hear it happen? 1:13?, 2:01? Let me know what you think. I do this with my friends frequently.

I'd like to hear what think. All respect, my friend.

    Van_The_Man

  • @kilroesales Duane plays the first, Dickey the second. I play both parts as I never knew that they swapped during the song. Incredible solo by both, but I think I like Dickey's part better. :)

  • No matter how sad I get, thanks Dick Chaney, when I play this song there is a smile on my face

  • @Kitandroxandbec do you mean dickey betts?

  • reminds me of tallahassee ariund the time streaking was a fad. great song from a great album. allman bros at their best.

  • easily one of the greatest solo's of all time

  • not really my kind of music, until the solo starts. than it's mind blowing.

  • It's almost been a year, Budd, and we still miss you. I've let you down, bro. Please forgive me. When I hear a Harley, you'll be there in spirit.

  • Best. Driving. Song. EVER

  • At least all the good 80's songs are downloadable. Now I can crank 80's any time I want and not wait for my songs to play over an old radio.

    (Justin Bieber) shall die

  • mmmm. good clean family fun here fellas

  • Am I high again or that mushroom keeps moving around ? ?

  • such a great song!!

  • For us between 15-25, Im tired of being told I was born in the wrong decade for my love of classic rock. Those years were the only right ones in music!!

  • :) Definataly! <3

  • For all those Supernatural fans out there how got hooked on classic rock from the show, I definitely feel this song shoud be used in an episode.

  • i can almost swear tha picture is moveing

  • @ChivasUsaFan16 it is moving...

  • @ChivasUsaFan16 i think it is

  • @ChivasUsaFan16 thats what shrooms will do to ya

  • @ChivasUsaFan16 i totoly see it

  • @ChivasUsaFan16 lol, I thought it was the joint at first.

  • These guitarists are coming froma Different place than LS, Danny 808. Similar....but very different

  • A melodic masterpiece both vocally and guitar wise

One of the best moments in the 70's music world !

  • the album pic is a psychedelic mushroom the boys took, a journey to find the right chords and rhythm to make up this song. you have to have been there to know the why's.......and creativeness it can create. No wonder the straight world is so afraid of it.

  • The only part of this song I do not like is when it ends! No other tune brings me to heaven quite like this

  • awesome no one sounds like duane my favorite allman bros. band song

  • wow really like this song and that picture is really cool!

  • The song is about Dickey Betts then, current wife, Sandy "Bluesky" Wabegijig (sp)...They divorced in 1975. It's a love song, not a funeral song.

  • It looks like a swollen penis?

  • this solo is better than freebird

  • @MrDanny8081 it should be there are better guitarists in this band than in Lynyrd Skynyrd

  • blue blue skyyyyyy

  • You're my blue sky ... you're my sunny day

Lord, you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way ... turn your love my way ... yeah

  • I love this fucking song

  • when I was a little kid, my dad would always call me "sonny day." This song always reminds me of him.

  • defenitly in my top 3 best songs EVER played

  • This song reminds me just how happy I am to be alive...

  • Hmmm, I can see the funeral thing, but I'd rather listen to it......on the way to someone else's! Peace, everybody. Love each other.

  • what a great song, very uplifting I would for sure love to have this played at my funeral its about being happy on that warm sunny day with out a care always make me smile...

  • That was so good, I have to play it again.

  • A lovely song. Glad to hear it once more.

  • One of the smoothest, sweetest guitar trade off songs ever. Funeral?!?! Where the hell did that come from? Beautiful song. Try it with headphones from the original album. Whoa.

  • @paraleverearl No shit.. You hit the nail on the head.

  • I'm not sure if I would play this song at a funeral, because really to me it seems more like a love song, the two guitars intertwining just making it all the more into the intertwining of two people's lives.

  • Blue Sky My pick for all time number one song nothing makes me happier Although Kasmir by Zeppelin comes real close

  • everybody is talking about this song being played at funerals, i would be honored for this to be played at my funeral! in the meantime though, I will enjoy it while I'm alive

  • @keithrose4227 you're gonna be too dead to feel anything

  • damn, 1:07 nothing better and a perfect example why Duane is one of my favorite guitarists

  • I will never forget this song. When i went to my uncles funeral this song played there. I dont think that he could pick a better song.

Love you, Jay-bird and will never forget about you

  • I will never forget this song. When i went to my uncles funeral this song played there. I dont think that he could pick a better song.

    Love you, Jay-bird

  • The "music biz" needs to sell their new crap for one reason (profits), so the "tastemakers" promote the utter garbage that ends up being broadcast.

The public has been dumbed down.

And older bands and styles are pushed off the charts, which is natural, but how did music today get to such a sorry state? Bitches with no talent strip basically naked and grind onstage= money. Will their "songs" be around in 10 years- of course not.

  • there's only one band today that fits this kind of music and that band is called the sheepdogs

  • I miss feeling like this song...

  • good friend of mine recently passed away... he was only 20. the chorus to this song is on his wake card. now i see why

  • Don't really like the mushroom imagery...but nevertheless a truly sublime song and music, by a great band, off a very fine album! Should've just shown the cover of 'Eat A Peach', or some pictures of a rich blue sky!

  • Just dont make em like this anymore

  • My band just recorded our first cover of this song on our school. Do me a favor and go listen to it. Its with the original guitar solo, played by our guitarist.

    Its on my channel

  • i laid in my bed one day and heard this song perfectly, idk how...but it was awesome

  • perfect while cruising next to the tetons

  • This song puts me in my happy place. I've told my wife to play this at my funeral :)

  • man i made the mistake of being born in this fucking generation.....would have gotten along better with everyone if people still blazed up and jammed to this music

  • @Ungodlyblood dude i did that yesterday lol

  • @mcblair96 oh dont get me wrong i still burn up to this song but not many of my friends enjoy this type of music

  • @Ungodlyblood lol you should watch midnight in paris. you're totally right btw.

  • This song makes me cry :') <3

  • Beautiful vocals there by Dickey, and is Duane was still alive, he would be the GREATEST guitarist no doubt, imagine the kind of music, Duane could have made in the past 40yrs! His music would still be played on radio's instead of bloody Bieber.. I remember the days when you sit in a car, cruise down the freeway with these great songs playing out of the windows. Now its gone, and probably forever, Duane may be gone, and Dickey may have left, but they will ALWAYS be in our hearts and in the air.

  • 12 Dislikes! some people have a cloudy sky.

  • drunk got class in 5 hours but i will stay up all night listening to this. cant get better music

  • Smoked some pot and listened to this song while driving over the Chessapeak Bay Bridge going down to South Carolina in my '69 riviera GS. One of those experiences you see in movies. Couldn't have been more perfect.

  • i love the Allman brothers

  • I have a friend who does alot of drugs in his poolhouse, and we play this song on his sterio and he kicks us all out everytime. dunno the reason, strange....

  • I would love, like 90% of the rest of you, to see the original group together again, minus of course Duane and Berry. But the one main reason that Dickey Betts will never be in the band again is simple. Gregg is finally clean and sober. If Dickey was around that wouldn't last an hour!

  • Hope the ABB listen to this song and bury the hatchet with Dickey Betts. He was one half of the greatest guitar duos ever, and one sixth of the greatest rock band ever. There's no way I could go see an ABB Show minus Dickey, and that's no disrespect to Gregg, Butch, Jaimoe, and Warren Haynes who are all the best at what they do, forget who's at fault and get the maestro of Rhythm Guitar back in the lineup.

  • this is not the greatest song ever. But it is the greatest example of one guitar player changing leads with another (2.32.

When dickie and duane change lead guitar around 2.32 then it is wow!

  • wow!!

  • For those of us who grew up in the 70's, if this song doesn't bring a smile to your face, nothin' will................

  • might be the best guitar solo ever

  • What a beautiful song....never gets old.

  • one of my favorite guitar solos of all time, so much heart and feeling in it! gives me the chills!

  • I love how i feel like im on mushrooms while watching the video

  • their music is ahead of the 8 ball on most of today's music. great melody here and you can't hear it, i probably hate your music too.

  • Their music isn't very good by itself, but their solos and individual playing are superb.

  • @andersoncouncilpf you are a colossal moron.

  • I love how there are no arguments in the comments. Guys, you're the best. Not just for listening, but FEELING the song and its passion. Doesn't it just make you so happy? That's why there's no fights. Music is stronger than words.

  • love this song

  • Great match with these days autumn blue sky.

Happy when I walkin' under blue sky with it. : )

  • Not much can top this tune I consider it to be the best of all southern rock And there is a whole lot of amazin southern rock!!!!

  • This song just makes want to dance in a field free

  • dude tha mushroom is moveing wo

  • I lived thru the 70's and YES! It was the best era ever. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Music and times in general were THE BEST! Believe it. Nothing will ever come close. What more can I say.

  • blue sky, free bird, stairway to heaven, funeral worthy

  • @koala4dictator 4 sure. I call my wife my "blue sky". I could definitely see this as a farewell to her if I go first.

  • beautiful song.makes me cry and gives me hope at the same time. wish i'd done things different

  • I am wondering what type of disciple of hell you need to be dislike this one...

  • great song, heard this playing loud the other night, I went next door and was given a beer by a beautiful young woman, she said she was named after this song, and is a grandmother at 38 ! WOW, time sure flys ! as I'm 27 years older than her ! these songs came out in psychedelic/acid rock era and are still solid golden tunes today !

  • i literally just started crying when i heard this....so beautiful

  • melodious

  • replay buttom sodomized

  • Was living down in Huntington Beach, California (circa; 1972) and played this song soooooooo many times. It MIGHT have been on "Eat A Peach" but I do remember that, at age 25, life was free & easy. Great friends, an ass kicking car, working for an airline at LAX. I would play the gutiar solo SO loud I'd have people in the NEXT apartment building bitchin' at me. Dudes & dudettes ..... when your young you gotta for for everything cause soon enough it closes in around you & grabs you by the....

  • I was born in the wrong generation. God I'd kill to live in the 70s.

  • this song is great, it brings so many happy thoughts in my head, and i just love hearing Duana Allman playing his guitar, he is clearly one of the best off all time on a guitar :)

  • This song brings back such great memories of care free days...good friends, good smoke, good times...i soo miss you all...

  • @theherbsuperb57 me too , miss them so much , but at least we brought the memories with us , pass along ,

  • This my two year daughters favorite song she starts yelling and getting excited everytime she sees the shroom lol

  • Walk along the river, sweet lullaby, it just keeps on flowing,

It don't worry 'bout where it's going, no, no.

Don't fly, mister blue bird, I'm just walking down the road,

Early morning sunshine tell me all I need to know

    CHORUS

You're my blue sky, you're my sunny day.

Lord, you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way,

Turn your love my way, yeah.

Good old sunday morning, bells are ringing everywhere.

Go to Carolina, it won't be long and I'll be there

  • wtf, i dont know if its cause im drunk, but it seems like the picture is slowly getting bigger and slowly getting smaller, its crazy

  • Unfortunately, this type of quality music is gone forever. Were bombarded with total crap from the likes of Lady Gaga and the ladyboy kid what's his face.

Great song to listen to cruising down some road down south. Everything just comes together.

  • I swear if I hear one more person tell me that the LP 'Eat A Peach' was named because Duane Allman wrecked into a peach truck and hence he 'ate a peach', I think I will gouge their eyes out.

  • Walk along the river, sweet lullaby, it just keeps on flowing, It don't worry 'bout where it's going, no, no. Don't fly, mister blue bird, I'm just walking down the road, Early morning sunshine tell me all I need to know CHORUS You're my blue sky, you're my sunny day. Lord, you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way, Turn your love my way, yeah. Good old sunday morning, bells are ringing everywhere. Goin to Carolina, it won't be long and I'll be there CHORUS
  • * * * * *

  • I love Duane and Dickey, ..I love this band!!!

To me it sounds like Clapton (free flowing Duane) followed by Page (Dickey Betts showing that masterful fretwork!!)

And then they team together for the finish!!!!!

    You only get that here!

So who wrote the lyrics and gave this exaltation to the world?? ,,Dickey???

    Thank you Mr. Betts!!!!

  • Love this one.

  • Guitar work so good and beautiful it brings tears to your eyes.

Wish they had used the actual Eat a Peach album cover though . . .

  • GREAT GUITAR WORK SO PLEASANT TO LISTEN TO WHILE CHILLING OR YARD WORK OR WORKING ON THE OLD CARS AND OLD TRUCK LOTS OF PLEASURE AND REMEMBERING THE CONCERTS

  • I'll always wonder what part of Carolina they sing about. . . I'm WNC, and it sounds right, so I'll go with that. regardless, you can't go wrong with Carolina: spectacular beaches, piedmont cities, waterfall surrounded mountain towns: I feel so lucky to be a resident. :)

  • check out soulshine!

  • Dad aint wrong!

  • 11 dislikes ......11 homersexuals : )

  • i was listening to this the other day and my dad walked in,damn he was furious,he stormed in yelling "how many times do i have to tell you to turn that shit up?!?!?!" :)

  • @ElThrashinFlea I love your dad!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gawddam, makes me a happy ol' boy. makes me miss my daughter and the good times. but makes me a happy ol' boy just thinkin' of it. bless the allman's

  • 11 people live under cloudy skies!

  • 11 PEAPAIE CAN'T HEAR

  • it's pretty wild to think that if this album came out last week or whatever, it would have no chance today. Fucking sad my friends, long live real music.

  • @mistadobalina29 I'm trying to start a southern rock band. Those are very supportive words lol!!!!

  • @mistadobalina29 I dunno. I'd buy the hell out of it. Just seems like music lately has been extremely generic.

  • @madskrillz2 you can actually access MORE music than you could in the 70's thanks to our good friend the internet. So yeah, you can listen to a lot more crap, but also can discover new amazing artists every day. great music never went away, there's just so much music nowadays that it can be a bit of a quest to find the good stuff. It's still there. It'll never go away.

  • @mistadobalina29 word is born!

  • @mistadobalina29

Disagree. This would be #1 for a month.

  • I simply LOVED this song!!! Since the first time i hearded it. Now I HAVE to play it on the guitar... Peace t o everybody that like good music^^

  • @danielbrockbr It's not hard to play on guitar. You just need some emotion and a decent guitar.

I can play it and to make me play it well I just imagine myself as trying to follow Duane. Good luck, bro. Rock on!!

  • southern comfort at its best

  • @mrniggerbaiter Duey Allman is The rolling stones magizines number 2 greatest guitar player of all time

  • If I could play guitar it would sound like this.

  • This has got to be some of the best guitar work ever.

  • I only have two favorite songs in the world this is one. If im having a bad all I have to do is put this on. This makes me FEEL GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • unadulterated bliss

  • Why it's not on anybody's top 100 list,anybody?

  • The Brothers stutter in unison.

  • The Allmans are a religious experience for me. I honestly can say that this band has brought me closer to the ethereal than anything or place or one...just feel the music!

  • This was my theme song for a long time. I bought Eat a Peach just before starting graduate school, and this song was the symbol for that whole time, which ended badly. It wasn't the song's fault, just the way things went. It still brings back how I felt at that time of my life. Great rhythm, which anyone can play to, E and A.

  • What else can you say but that this is a great song!

  • @LeahKururugi what a perfect song to play. ur pop must have been a good guy : )

  • this can make the most horrible day into the best when you listen to this

  • Even if it did, not such a bad thing.

  • This song feels way longer with weed

  • 4 songs are gettin' played at my funeral.

This, Desperado, Free Bird and Baba O'reily (because I love the Who).

This song especially though because it will make people think of me and the good times and they'll smile knowing there's good things in death.

    GOD BLESS GOOD MUSIC!!!

  • @th3mw3llboyz I love your post!!!!! AMEN!!

  • @th3mw3llboyz 4 great songs!!!
