Why is it that everyone thinks that WRX's are slower at higher speeds because they are AWD. They are BETTER because one set of the wheels are not being pushed or drug, ALL of the wheels are pulling their weight. I beat people in the high end on my WRX all of the time. It doesn't matter at all why in the world do you think that makes them slow I REALLY want to know.

It's because they have power fed to all 4 wheels causing resistance. If either the front wheels or the back wheels are slower than the rest (which usually the front wheels are), the entire car is sapped from horsepower. Just think of those bike for two people and one power the front wheel and the other the back. The fact that it has pretty high top end is because it's light for a car that puts out 300hp and torque. Plus, that motor just has to put to 4 wheels rather than two

Nah I can't agree with that. With AWD none of the wheels are creating drag because they all have power going to them. The Subaru AWD systems puts power evenly to all 4 tires and changes the power as there is slip detected. There is NO drag from any of the wheels!

@vr00m123 no one really races from a dig with them since they're AWD??? that makes no sense, being AWD is what makes them STRONG from a dig, you can launch awd cars from a dig (i.e. the drag strip) @ like 7K cause they hook like a bat out of hell, everyone that knows about drag racing knows that AWD cars kill from a stop for that very reason...it is their strong point

holly shit my friend has a spec v and my brother has a wrx and the race isnt even close the spec v is fwd and has 170 hp if i remember right and has 4 doors just like the wrx so the race is common sense if you want to see it up close come to louisville ky we will show you hell you can drive the spec v and we will be in the wrx

Did you just say a Spec V will beat a WRX? You do know that the WRX does a 1/4 mile in and 14 seconds, STIs in 13.4 and Spec Vs do it in 15.1. Spec Vs get up to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, that's no way near the WRX (5.5 seconds)or STIs (4.8 seconds). Stock vs stock, Spec Vs will lose a 1/4 mile to a WRX by about 8 car lengths.

and if the spec v was turbo hes puching around 300hp in a 2700 pound car. not saying the spec v will handle better but it will destroy a sti in a run. IF you think im bullshitting i will go out of my way to show you some vids just let me know!!!!!

+1 with my T25 setup on my 92' ($1800) sentra I ran neck and neck with an EVO IX MR from 40-120.

I would stomp on an Evo or Sti with 250whp. Im probably putting down 210whp now if im lucky (but im only 2500lbs)

to WRX below, we are not talking about SPEC V sentras. SER sentras meaning 91-94 b13 or 95-99 b14.

throw a turbo setup on the stock 9.5:1 compression sr20 and you make well over 200 whp with stock boost. at around 15 psi you are easily at 240-250 whp on a t25. upgraded fuel system, turbo setup, etc and you can make a reliable 350 + whp on a stock motor and have no issues. lets see a wrx do all that for less than 10k including the cost of the vehicle.

We don't need to do all that. I guarentee you I can spend LESS money on my car that's ALREADY faster and it will still be quicker than all that money you spent modifying your car. You have to do more to shed 2 seconds off your 0-60 time just to be as fast as my car. That's already a couple of thousands right there. So yes, I can have a faster car than yours with LESS money.

I don't understand why Sentra owners think their cars are the shit? For the price you brought your Sentra, you got a 0-60 run time of +7 seconds. I spent $18,000 (a thousand dollars cheaper than Sentras) and I got my WRX with a 0-60 run time of 5.6. Or you can get an SRT-4 Neon for $15,500 and get 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. Don't waste your money on a Sentra if you're looking for speed.
