  • Superlative Job! I need the sheet music to this.

  • how do you record this piece with such a clean sound?

  • Beautiful!!!!!

  • Beauiful!!!!!

  • Man, that cell phone ringing just made my day! Great playing by the way!

  • Man, that cell phone ringing just made my day! Great playing by the way!

  • you know this is actually the first recording of this piece on here i have seen that i actually quite like, the organist actually plays it somewhat rather like i do and many organists who play nun danket alle gott play it very boringly

  • Now I must go play this to erase the pauses fromy memory.

    Nicellphone cymbelsterne.

Except for thexaggerated tempo change distractions, nice job!

The separated (not slured) pedal notes, which match the separated chords in the manuals, are nice.

  • such an amazing job!

  • great job man.. keep it up!

  • Love your choices in registration!

  • This is great! I like to play it just this way and it's nice to have confirmation of what I like to do!!

  • Really Good! Love It!

  • Finally, an organist playing at its written dynamic, FFF!

  • bravo!!!! :)

this was awesome!! what a beautiful and powerfully moving song! i like it! thanks so much!

  • The 5 stars is for the organist. Not that box of whistles

  • Wow, great job! I've never heard this piece played at that tempo, but I really liked it...seemed to really enhance the expression of the piece and did not slur the pedals. Don't listen to these people telling you what you "should've" done...you played with your heart and put something into, thats all that matters. Bravo! PS, what reeds on that organ! so bright and fiery!

  • Gorgeous!!!! What key is that in? I've seen Diane Bish play it on "The Joy of Music." I'm not daring enough to try! LOL Wish we could see you "tap-dancing" on the pedals...I always love to watch our church organist do that! Also, good job not letting the phone break your concentration.

  • Beautiful performance of one of my favorite pieces!

  • LOL fast perfekt - aber dan mobilfon -lol- what a shock.... try a new recording...

  • This is glorious!

  • Bravo good job !

  • You got it going on! Pay no attention to the critics. This was first rate. De gustibus non disputandum est ! Imagine this fine instrument in a nice neo-gothic building with some reverb!! Can't say I'm particularly fond of the Casavant sound. I'd like to hear this one from a bit more distance. Hey. You can come play my measly 22 ranks anytime. Great work!!

  • It depends wich notes/chords of the beginning you choose to play staccato.

  • Ale tak to bardzo piękne to :)

  • Komórka troche psuje to :(

  • Too slow.

No exaggerated retards and pauses as you did at :16 and 1:24. Just the slightest hint.

    Retard at :28 was good!

    Acceleration at 2:33 was great!

Love that you detached each two descending pedal notes. Many slur them.

Far too much change in tempo defeats the powerful momentum of this marvelous work.

At 2:43, get ALL the notes - no cheating.

You rush through when there should be slight retard at the end of the ascent.

Good start on this wonderful uplifting composition.

  • What was the registration for the pedal without couplers, sounds like it would earth smashing inside the space. Nice work.

  • sounds great but id personally play it faster

  • What year is this Crashavant?

Still to brash for my ears, but great job on the playing, Joe

  • 1997, the pipes are only like 20' away haha, step back 50' its pretty nice

  • can't get enough Karg-Elert or some loud organ shit of some description! Yeah, this sounds great, to me this represents all that's good about church organ.

Put some Messiaen up, or failing that, the chord of death - we've all been tempted to do it mid service when noone is singing.

Keep it up, I really enjoyed this performance.

  • That organ really has a powerful punch! I have not heard it in a long time!

  • Yes for only 62 ranks she sure does...thats what a sh*tload of 8's does!!!

  • @Arky83mi I used to practice on an ordgan which had 4 ranks. English organs for you.

  • good organ, but I don't know if it's the reverb in the space or the placement of the mics, I thought the performance muddy, there was significant electronic distortion (and I bought really high-end speakers and woofer for this computer) and didn't get a sense of resonance. :(

  • PLay some Widor

  • dont know it well enuf to post

  • I've always loved this piece and to me the tempo is about right - - especially when you consider that in churches with great reverb you'd have to allow for some of that to die away else you'd have nothing but mush. Sounds great here to me. Really like Casavant organs for their great reeds.

  • it's too slow, respect the appellation of the piece at the beginning

  • Excellent playing! I watched and listened to alot of your other vids as well. Bravo! The ONLY thing that I find extremely disturbing is that you are completely missing the "organist paunch" around the middle. LOL! You're probably the only organist in the world that's ever been to a gym. Congrats, from Boston :)

  • BRAVO! LOVE IT! Always enjoy hearing you play. Makes me want to dig that piece out. Thank you! Keep up the great work!

  • Thank you again for all your enjoyable and well played postings.

  • Very good as usual. Keep up the good work. Hope you are enjoying the cold weather!!

  • Wish I had cold weather to enjoy down here in Arkansas(the worlds largest sauna!!) :)

  • You say that now lol.

  • You say that now lol.

  • Very nice Joe, VERY nice tempo; if contemporary Casavants can have enough harmonics in the mixtures and cornets on full to cover up the cell phone ring, the fact of having had it next to your camera did make a good zimbelstern! Never mind that although because your video is worth being kept! JW

  • Ringtone as zimbelstern LOOOOL!!!!!

  • Bravo, very good! I love that Casavant zimbelstar at the end!!! Oh! I see, it's a cell phone...well that's make the effect!;^)

(f*ck, someone taught of that before me...)

    Keep doing your good work!-Jeanseborg

  • what does it feel like playing on those style keyboards?

  • No different really. Within the last 10 or so years Casavant has started building the majority of its consoles in this motif...hasn't gone back to the shoe-shaped swell pedals unfortunately though of earlier years.

  • Do you mean that this console has a rubber plain balanced pedal? (sorry, not good in english!) Casavant is making new pedals in replica of their well knowed metal one with rubber pins!!! Simon Couture (now vice president!)explained that to me that this model was really loved-and I understand!-by american clients, so thanks to all of you!;^)

  • You have amazing talent, always enjoying listening to your music.

  • A favorite of mine too. I always LOVE watching your videos. Thanks so much for sharing with us. From your first videos to now you show such an amazing progression. Great work! Now .. time for a little Widor?

  • Wonderful as always. long time no see?

  • One of my favorite pieces!

  • Fabulous Joe!! You are a very talented organist and artist. Thanks for sharing your talent on Youtube for all to enjoy around the world. For a moment when your cell phone rang I thought you had added the Zimbelstern!! Ooops! Please keep posting when you can. I really enjoy all your videos.
