I heard that Rourke and Marr have known each other since they were kids and have a long history of jamming, so it makes sense that Marr would have suggested things for Rourke to play, but the guy is a beast on the bass, and even though I don't know for a fact, it sounds to me like the guy came up with his own lines
As Cometary Gates is number one played on my ipod...you go to suppose its on of my fav's...but listening to this has opened up a new level to it all. Cant listen to it now without taking note of the great bass line. I owe you one!
@Smownage Yeah I'm sure he gave Rourke creative control of the bass line after Marr told him what he had to do.. ;-)

Marr has said in various interviews that he gave Rourke creative control of the basslines :)
