The graphics guy isn't the scriptwriter. Or the director. The graphics guy is just a fucking graphics guy. The graphics don't have weight on the quality of a movie. Yes, the resources you use to create said effects might matter. For instance, using CGI *at all* vs. Faking effects with nothing but make-up and costumes. But "Oh hey this is really detailed" is bullshit.
