@RcApprentice Thanks! I have started planning out a bigger, stronger and more scaled one in 2013. Its going to be gas with electric drives. The one in the video is built by simple hand tools to show that anyone could build one with a bit of mechanical skills. At the time of this recording, i didnt have any motor speed controls built in or have any gearing for tourqe. Again thanks.
@ChezburgerFilms You could get smaller stock and also use smaller motors. I bought 2 drills for $20ea at Harbor Freight. You can also buy smaller actuators such as Firgelli L12 6V Analog Miniature Linear Actuators. They plug right into a RC receiver. You can also find old Tonka Dozer and convert it using the drill motors as the drive. May have to check and see if the motors fit. Also you would need a motor control. See the Sabertooth 2 x 5 for this app. Use the drill battery as your power.
@metelbod I have no idea what u just said lol id no how to make motors and turn things in t rc's and stuff... but thx anyway if i can get a robot dude here maybe he can help me lol
@razikhussain FA-MS-8-12-4 Mini 4" stroke 8 lbs force 12V actuator. Are you useing a car battery or somthing simular. I used a lawnmower battery in mine but I think a motorcycle battery woould work. All depends on the room you have.
@metelbod -watched ur video and bit jalous, but u did v.good job.am using 12volt motorbike battrey,am thinking i will leave my model here as it is,i want to build a new better version in aluminiuam, what about u?????????????
@razikhussain Ya there is alot of things I would have done diffrent but its a learning exsperiance. Put alot of time and effort into to it and I know what it takes to build a new one. Not sure what I want to do. I really want a exscavator, but thats comes with alot of moving parts. What type of motors are you using? Like I said I will make a video of my componets and how i did it to share that with you. Its simple...and thats what I know.
@metelbod hello thnx for reply,am using 12v car window motors,i think they have best power and save more space.it took me 1yr to build this model a lot of thinking and time need, and 4-5 hr a day, with no special tools.if u want to build a exscavator that will be real big chellange as u said lot of moving arms.it,s not impossible but for me at the moment it,s hard to build,so i will stick to my d11r model.
@Gallo187 The ground is dry and hard. It weighs 36.29 kilograms or 80lbs. Plenty of weight. It was cutting threw some hard rock. I need to add a ripper to my list of things to do to it.
Get a better dozer, but i like this 1 to it has alot of power! :)
