whats with that huntercarey doj thinking he is all bosanova mr johny hammer sticks saying we dont know music...hmm...who actually is the one who doesnt know music i wonder us or you
Nobody is hating on this young fellow... he's just not putting out the correct information and his playing is mediocre at best. I applaud him for trying to help others, however referring to himself as an expert is a bit ambitious and clearly reckless. If you're going to put out a video for instruction first ensure you know exactly what you're talking about and then be able to execute properly. Don't give my man, just make the proper corrections and do the right thing! Good Luck!
The playing is OK, the drums and cymbals just don't sound very good. My point is, the accent you're playing is not on the "And", but actually on Ah (or the 16th note) before the downbeat. Jazz swing or blues shuffle, the same rules apply.
Jazz and blues are dictated by the snare. Blues has the backbeat on the 2+4 (like is younger brother rock) and is accented by the snare. JAzz is lead by the hi-hat on the 2+4. Who cares what the ride is playing....
Good timing my friend. But what you've demonstrated is a jazz beat, not blues. I'll explain...In jazz you hit the ride six times per measure: as you did with the 1, 2&3, 4& with accents on the 1 and 3. In blues you hit the ride eight times per measure: 1&2&3&4& with accents on the 1,2,3 and 4. It creates that forward movement.
THIS freaking sucks.......

@rmkle depends. if you were counting the "blues" triplets as shuffled eight notes, it would be the "and" of the fourth beat

Dear God ... send me your address so I can send you some *decent* cymbals to post videos with. Those Pie-Tin practice cymbals sound awful. :(
