@AstonishCinema This board will accept all kinds of drive from SATA Gen1, 2 to 3. Make sur e you have flashed to the latest BIOS for RAM compatibility which will then 'recognize' most of the DDR2 and speeds up to 1066MHz and above.
For SATA3 (6GB/s), the S/B controller will step down to SATA2 (3GB/s). Only the latest P55 chipset will utilize SATA3 fully and also not forgetting USB 3.0.
@awnful Congrats to you for going 4.2GHz. BTW, I still can't hit 4GHz mark yet. It crashed at 3700+MHz. It could be my RAM that is pulling down the system down. "OCZ Platinum PC2 1066MHz". Anyway, will try again the nite after tomorrow.
Is anybody else having the issues with cpu temp sensors?
I have this MB and Q8200 and the core temps are very high, but not actually so hot. Just the sensor problems or something i think.... It's very weird but the temps are shown like:
Procesor31 °C (88 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #160 °C (140 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #255 °C (131 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #356 °C (133 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #456 °C (133 °F)
It doesnt make any sense.. how come the cpu temp would be so much higher than the cores?
Hv u update to the latest MB Bios? either the it's v2101 or v2104. Or whats ur cpu cooler? Stock cooler or After-market cooler. If u r still using the stock cooler, the temps would not be over 100'c. Cpu temps @ 31'c, is OK, and the cores would be roughly abt 26'c ~ 35'c on idle.
Try re-sitting ur cooler and reapply the thermal grease. Good luck.
@geraldlkc I have tried to change the cooler, so now I have xigmatek apache cooler and it's the same... i guess it's is something with the bios... but i'm affraid to update it because as i read that bios update is not suggested if you doesn't have a bigger problem with the mb. and mine is not so big if i know that the temps are normal, just display isn't. And i don't intend to overclock anything... was just curious if someone else has the same problema nad maybe has fixed it. Tnx for the answer
@elisirfromslovenia previously I had that problem too not until I flashed to the latest BIOS. My 2nd Core's reading was abt 72'c & 1st core was 58'c on idle. To update the BIOs, do it best with a FDD, if not, thru ASUS Update s/w. But the catch are, to turn off the anti-virus s/w, unplug the Net, Download the latest BIOs manually from ASUS and flash. Always remember to Backup ur old BIOs to the 2nd ROM chip and the MB's DVD beside, juz in case anything goes awfully wrong.
I have this board and i love it but i will be going with a x48 board or go x58 or p55. Going with a x48 would be cheaper... The reason is the p45 boards run x8 x8 on the pcie slots and with today's hi end graphics card that would bottleneck them.
to Milkrulz . Bear in mind that the GTX275 will be hovering right above the SouthBridge chipset. it will get quite hot during gaming and during summer too. May needed to to fix a fan on the side panel to blow it into the SouthBridge. tried mounting my thermalright HR-05 SLi/IFX cooler and found the screws were to long. Can't find any suitable cooler for it. Anyways, if you could juz invest a little more in getting the P5Q Deluxe, it would be great. Juz my thoughts. :)
Coooool... :D , and paired it of with a "Premium" RAM too. Been using this setup for almost a year (for gaming only) and no complaints so far. Productivity is only satisfaction.
Same here, it's my haunt and habit to go there every month to get parts. I prefer to shop at Videopro @ lvl 4. Cheaper than the other shops. For aftermarket coolers or accesories...always shop at Prolinkdata @ lvl 5 (near Best Bargain and opposite Bell Systems). Gaming products, go up to level 6 Scorpia. Staff knowledgable and willing to help, plus, they would generiously give good discounts. I bought my Razer Deathadder @ $75, wherelse other shops selling abt $89.
Cool. I like VideoPro as well. Im planning on getting a Asus P5Q-Deluxe on christmas as my first time build. My previous computer were all those prebuilt ones. Like the one Im using now. Its a dell dimension 2400 lol. Celeron 2.4ghz with 512 mb
Sorry for the late reply. Wow!!! Jumping from a Celeron to a Duo or Quad system. You'll feel the 'PoWeR' in everything, from simple surfing, gaming or whatever application you're gonna to use. You sure wanna go for the Deluxe??? Actually not much diff from the P5Q-E in terms of the extra power phase, heatpipe between the NB and SB, and the Expressgate SSD. Unless you are planning on O/Cing...this board is great. Also, get the OCZ Platinium 1066MHz RAM...faster but had to set BIOs to 1066.
Yeah. I wanna get the deluxe cos i sometimes leave my conputer on all night and i might find that 16 phase power switching useful. And i especially want that northbridge fan! Btw, im going for the quad system cos, somewhere in the future, we will have more quad core optimized games and i also do alot of CAD cos im a hight school student as well.
Anyway? how is your P5Q Deluxe going? Any good or bad? Thanks
I'm still using the P5Q-E and most probably will try to O/C a bit and see how it goes. Only problem is whether to do a 120mm blowhole on the side-panel juz to cool the southbridge, as the huge GFx card had covered about 65% of the heatsink, thus the temp is about 52'c on idle and abt 60'c on load (Sothbridge).
As for Quad...hope that more games will support it...soon.
Wait till December and I'll see whether to feed her more accessories. Will let u know. Thanks...
Wanted to get the Deluxe to replace the "E" last Monday 24th, but the guy told me the same thing that i'd juz mentioned. but anyways, I went for the IKONIC 1000w PSU, a LianLi PC7FW (I think) mid-tower plus a WD Black Caviar HDD for storage.
This coming Thurs 4th Sept may have to get a better 140mm casing fan, juz to replace the stock fan running @ 900rpm. Wanted to cut a blowhole at the side panel, but still considering.
and i've bought the CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER X-FI TITANIUM FATAL1TY CHAMPION SERIES.
and im thinking of buying this motherboard cause i cant put the soundcart on the one that i have now because the graphics card fan is covering the small PCI port that the sound card needs. will this asus one help???
Try removing the Floppy drive, disable floppy seek option and change the boot sequence from CD/DVD, HDD and disabled. Unless you have other boot device like USB or so whatever, you can select other option.
Hey i got the same motherboard but when i turn it on it says soemthing and then it says Disk not detected and it shows me press F1 F2 and something to do something, when i dont have a keyboard plugged in it just continues. can u tell me how to get in the bios? i mean i already press DEL but it shows something else, heeelp
I had paired it up with E8400, 4GiB 800MHz@667MHz RAM, XFX 8800GT and X-Fi Fatality series. It works real smooth on Crysis, CoD4 and 5, and others.
Haven't really started O'Cing tho', and wondering whats the performance gonna to be like??? Still waiting for the Thermalright True Copper to be out in stores.
music sounds like it should be in avatar :/

Apologize for the late post.
I believe the X-FI TITANIUM FATAL1TY is a PCIe, and therefore you could use the PCIe x1 slot below the NB chipset.
I can't really help that much, and maybe this person can help you...TJHarlow. Juz search his name in the box above.
