but the engine is gutless

but i still love the car how you can alter your line by oversteer

i have the RHD version it has 185 bhp ~ and compared to other cars i have owned in a straight line its slow

e.g i got beaten by a Vr6 on top end power in every gear but out handled him

its not a very advanced engine compared to its jap counterparts of that era eg the the honda b16 1.6 that makes 170 bhp std

but 190 is old. compare the e200 w211 1.8 with honda. you will find mercedes power :)

the honda engine was made at the same time as this car 1987 onwards and it has 100 bhp per litre with no turbo or supercharger i dont think there are many if any mercedes engines that can achieve this without a supercharger

a nisssan sr20 engine would be a good engine swap for this car

its the engine thats the problem

its only has 180-190 bhp from 2.3 litress

i think it weights around 1250 kg so its very light for a 4 door

Yes only 185BHP and they are heavy, the 2.5-16 was 195BHP the Evo II was 235BHP, in race tune these things put out 400+ BHP. So they are serverely de-tuned in road form. Getting them to 250BHP would probably still be a driveable car but as there aren't any aftermarket parts this is hard. A few have been turboed (low boost) and are very quick.
