When Sitchin wrote his books, only "specialists" could read the Sumerian language, but sources such as the 2006 book "Sumerian Lexicon" have made the language more accessible to non-experts. I am not saying he was 100% right. But I am saying for every PHD there is an equal and opposite PHD. When the early translators came upon passages that could have been and should have been interpreted the way Sitchin interpreted them, they had no conceivable frame of reference for such terminology. Sitchin rightly jettisoned the nonsense and translated the texts more like they were actually written, calling an alien an alien, so to speak, and this gross offense to modern academic sensibilities is what classic scholars considera sacrilege to their mindset.

I more than agree. What really get's me, though, is when he mentions the grandchildren. Hybrids like mules and ligers are steril. The definition of a species is when two members of the same species interbreed they are able to have nonsteril offspring.
