  • Thanks guys. I wish there would be more tutorials like this one on the low-end subject.. Sometimes despite the fact that you know the technique you just can't get that very low noise right if you don't have an appropriate environment.. So I think copying someones "right" settings and hear how it sounds in your room and on your speakers is a very useful thing.

    God bless ;)

  • this is unbelievable, thank you. i'm really new to all this, can you do a tutorial on how to create the chord sounds in the breakdown pls?

  • your that guy from the inbetweeners

  • @drukqs2369 well spotted!

  • @drukqs2369 lol i see it

  • Very nice tutorial!!!!

  • I am bored

  • so much to learn : )

  • @nebulae10 it seems like a bottomless pit :-)

  • Thanks a lot!!!

  • @Pashsport I have now posted a midi file of the bassline on my website. Please click the middle link in the description above...

  • @Pashsport I'll post the midi file on my page a bit later.. will let you know when its up

  • Nice description clearly aimed at non-theory savvy people... i would like to see videos which actually explain why things 'add more body' etc... for example with the filter, the reason it adds 'a bit more body' is because of the resonance around the cutoff frequency. There are about 5 occasions in this video where you say 'adds a bit more body'... pretty vague in my humble opinion especially for someone who clearly has a wealth of tech/theory knowledge and is trying to get customers. Peace.

  • @markadamburnett Thanks for your comment. The emphasis of this tutorial was to quickly run through the settings of Analog rather than get too deep with theory. By the same token I could have explained more about the concept of ADSR, or the difference between sine & saw waves etc.. I do apologise for my overuse of 'body' though! Just to clarify then, the reason I used the Sawtooth wave was for its harsher sound due to the even and odd harmonics of the fundamental frequency in its spectrum.

  • @skioakenfull thanks for the reply, sorry it seems some people saw my comment as a personal attack, I hope you didn't... your videos are all quality, good techniques and clearly explained. I just outlined what I am looking for personally and it's quite hard to find. Regards.

  • @markadamburnett just shut the fuck up, he dedicated his time for this video. not you

  • @Brianlee315 how old are you, 12? We're both working professionals, I apologise if my comment seemed rude or demanding, it was intended as constructive criticism at worst. Perhaps I should have made clear that I was very impressed with the content. But perhaps I used a few words which were too long for you to understand, next time I'll try to use a few swear words and insults so that all the ignorant little foul mouthed imbeciles can understand... sorry probably lost you again there.

  • One simple question. With this technique you don't have to use a seperate kickdrum cause of the osc2? or using a kickdrum makes the bass more bouncy?

  • @MrLexGr Great tutorial by the way!

  • @MrLexGr Glad you liked the tutorial! I'm not 100% sure what you mean with your question.. I wouldn't say that by using my bass sound you don't need a kick drum as well.. I think they can be used together. OSC2's saw wave is providing a little more 'tone' to the sound. It also depends on what kind of kick sound you are using.. With some tweaking though, you could turn my bass sound into a pretty cool kick drum :-)

  • @skioakenfull i was in a hurry and i messed up my comment... keep the same comment and replace osc2 with "pitch envelope of the osc1" :P

  • Why not select the original drumloop track for the side-chain and use the SH EQ function and set it to trigger only from the kick? One track less in the project.

  • @digidope Yeah you're right - I could have done that, but wanted to make it simple to understand for this tutorial. If the beat was more syncopated or busy then Sidechaining from it wouldn't be as effective which is why I generally set up a separate Sidechain track. But thanks a lot for flagging this up.. I will consider it for future videos!

  • @skioakenfull I use the EQ function mostly as it's a great feature that Logic Pro don't have. I usually use it with syncopated beats too as i like the bass to pump with the kick. If i want the sidechain to be something other than the kick pattern then or cource i have new own track for it. When doing the arrangement of the track it is just annoying to drag the SC track along ;-)

  • @digidope : +1

  • EXCELLENT! loving the wave of tracks coming out with this style. been tryin to get a similar sound

  • Thanks Ski and Point Blank, been enjoying these tutorials lately.

  • By 'Body' I am referring to the element of the sound that makes the pitch easier to define.. You can download this Sound as an Ableton Instrument Rack (Analog + Compressor) from my site... please type 'ski oakenfull bashmore' into google to find the page..

  • @skioakenfull The download link doesnt work =(

  • @salladspojk please tell me what's happening so I can fix it.. do you arrive at the web page? There doesn't seem to be a problem for me..

  • @skioakenfull I get redirected to a webpage with some weird coding that i cant see :/

  • @salladspojk It works in chrome though, but not in firefox. Anyhow it doesnt seem to work for me, maybe because im currently on an older version of ableton?

  • Another great tutorial from pointblankonline! Thanks!

  • really diggin this tut, a lot with a little, bang on!

  • Amazing! Thank you!

  • Spot on!

An interesting technique to add attack to the sound. Thanks!

P.S: The body is the fundamental frequency, so the sine wave adds body, not the saw...

  • Sound awesome!

  • great, thanks!

  • Nice one Ski, Bigup!

  • :O :D

  • 1st :D

Great Tutorial. Keep em comming, PBO! Ski is one cool guy. Thx 4 uploadin
