its not exactly his tone, sounds way to harsh imo also way to much thin without a better range of dynamics...although i would glad to have that tone for practice but not recordings
man, I am not a fan of those simulators. Here I use a Fender Princeton and/or a Marshall MA100C, with my pedals, TS808, OD2, CE5, DSD2 and of course the Cry Baby Classic captured with a Shure SM57 Beta and sometimes with my Condenser Mic from Audio Techinica, but I am really impressed with the sound quality you got from this software. Congratulations !
Is it just me or does amplitube sound like SHIT and couldnt sound anymore digital? I want to buy some custom stuff but it seems to just sound like crap to me
I listen to SRV all the time. You have the bright attack but it's thin. I'm a tweaker when it comes to tone so I have no idea exactly what to suggest except maybe an overwound humbucker, a BL500 pickup or a full range tone pot. They're like $45 but absolutely worth it.
I once tryed this software, never again, that vibrolux setting sounds nothing like a vibrolux, U think with computers now adays they would get better than they have, I thought it sounded pretty dam horible to be honest
very nice bro, it's the same vibe :) little too in your face sounding , missing the body little bit...But I can honestly say that I would prefer this sound over my SF Vibrolux , well done.
very nice bro, it's exactly the same :) little too in your face sounding , missing the body little bit...But I can honestly say that I would prefer this sound over my SF Vibrolux , well done.
Thanks alot for you kind comment. Fender amps are awesome indeed. Right now, I have a Vox AC30 It's good for the same kind of music, but still very different. I really love it!!
not bad, but I feel like there's something missing. It's not a huge deal but seems like it needs more presence or something, I dunno. I wonder how running a tube preamp before the computer would work out O_o
I was waiting for someone to tell me this story again. I know I'm not SRV, but I'm just doing an attempt to come as close to his tone as possible. I also know tone is in the hands, but SRV would sound pretty bad through a 50 dollar amp, altough he has "the hands".
@DaanJM That's cool - damn close. A whole lot of Stevie's tone and big sound WAS in his large, strong hands/fingers, and trust me - he was just as incredible through a $50 amp.
@Carthsgtr I only say that because I know for a fact how Stevie sounded through any and every amp he ever played through, and on many different guitars - which were sometimes less than awesome and owned by others. I know because I have friends and band mates who grew up with him and told me that he always sounded like Stevie - even if he hated what he was playing through. Those who knew him say it came from his hands.
@1btdt Of course he always sounded like Stevie. We're not talking about signature sound, we're talking about pure tone. Everybody and their mother goes on about how tone is in the hands, and it's true, but to a degree. It's obviously only a factor. Your signature sound is a whole different story from good tone vs crappy tone. If you plug a $100 Jackson into a DS-1 into a crate you're gonna get crappy tone no matter how much feeling you put in. I've seen SRV videos where he had crappy tone.
@c4662 We all thank you for the brilliant and obvious observation. I think most people watching this video realize that specific artists' tones are the result of THREE things: their talent, their touch, and their equipment chain. Daan has very simply and kindly taken the time to show other YouTubers how closely one can get to SRV's signature sound using emulation software to duplicate the equipment chain. And I think he did a damn fine job. And he plays damn well too. Post your attempt.
damn i have to bust out my strat for these great sounds again, too bad the input is all messed up.....dont like the fat sound of humbuckers for srv style :(
very nice. i'm in a forget vsti's for the time being and bought 3 tube amps this year in an attempt to achieve that organic guitar sound, but this sounds nice.
btw. for great IR sims i can wholeheartedly recommend the redwire IR's - sound the best to my ear from free ware and commercial ones. They are not expensive and you can get them "a la carte" - take just the ones you want. And they have a money back warranty. Worth a try. They get rid of some of the harshness and give more of the mid punch that most of the sims lack.
Thanks for the vid - a good approximation of the SRV tone. I have also tried about the same setup in AT3, but with the mod switch set to stock, turning the amps volume higher - also got a very good approximation of the tone - not sure which position on the switch i prefer more for SRV.
@DaanJM Yes, i think i agree - it depends o the signal chain though. One thing which helped me get best results was this - as with real tube amps - the more you wind them up, the fatter ad fuller they sound - i usually wind it full up and lover the signal somewhere before the amp sim (may be the input button in AT3 or somewhere in the VST host, etc. - this way you get full treble response from the guitar (if this is what you like) and a fuller tone without more distortion - just more saturation
Yes you definately can. I think the best solution is to run it through some kind of PA system. I use a Tascam US122-L audio interface. You could use an interface like this in combination with a PA. I run it through a stereo amplifier with 2 speakers. It sounds pretty awesome.
this is 100% on the money Daan. Just got Amplitude couple days ago been trying like mad to get that SRV sound this video did it for me =] Stellar sound.

Needs more bottom. SRV's sound is fat as a piano. Otherwise, nice chops, and not half bad for a software based modeler.
