  • UAW member and sick of union thug tactics. They cannot discuss things without threats. Public unions are not like those in the market place. Our contracts were subject to profits not taxes from the community.

  • good luck!

  • Ha ha! I went to the rally in Honolulu.....it was 78 degrees! I forgot how cold it is in the mid west. If unions are so great, why do they use strong arm tactics? I believe that union membership should be optional, this would motivate the unions to have to perform for their local members in order to attract and retain membership. Public sector unions shouldn't even exist, they are the equivalent to a business having a monopoly. Thanks for posting the Video Paul.

  • @123karismith -- I also think membership should be optional, but unions that represent public employees are quite diverse across the country. They don't all use "strong-arm" tactics. I think the union that represents teachers in Minnesota, for example, is a very reasonable organization with good leadership. The one thing that bothers me, however, is that I'm forced to pay into a pension. I'd rather have a 401K program that would give me a little more control over my money.

  • @learnamericanenglish I have to admit I bring to the discussion my 25 years of membership in a building trades union, where I witnessed the use of coercive tactics forced on its membership and on employers. I also suffer from having my retirement money tied up in a union pension.

  • @learnamericanenglish I think you are right in your estimation that a union is not a union is not a union. They are cut from the same cloth, in many respects, but not identical. BTW, I used one of your videos in my Academic Language class last week - noun clauses. I thought you did a better job of explaining it than I did. Cheers.

  • well done, Paul!

  • The GOP has been selling out the USA for years... Start checking out the "Security and Prosperity Partnership" GW Bush sold us out in 2005, and now they have plans to build a super highway from Mexico to Canada. Did you ever wonder why GW Bush didn't want a real fence? Google "Connie Fogal" from Canada and you will see protests that have been going on for years, but you never heard a word. Search "A Special Message from Congressman Tancredo" on you tube. GOP has sold you out!
