Spanish Tragedy is pretty much the first original play in the English Language. Prior to Thomas Kyd's there were Mystery Plays and public hangings, but there were no original stage dramas or 'playwrights' as such. Kyd invented what we think of as narrative drama in English. I don't actually understand the "presentational / representational" question, but I imagine the play's historical status predates the question.
Apologies for the audio -- we had no plans to film the reading, but when Len Gowing (who shot REVENGERS TRAGEDY) showed up with a little hand-held camera,
this is a subminamil message: eat chicken nuggets

It's fascinating how Derek Jacobi can dominate a stage even when they're sitting round in a circle.
The audio isn't great in parts, but the experience was well worth it. Thanks, alexcoxfilms.
