  • This, All the Way, Ceremony, In A Lonely Place, Broken Promise and Guilty Partner. Oh, and Sunrise and This Time of Night as well as Your Silent Face and ICB.

Whoever said New Order were a singles band? Bollocks.

Bernard Sumner - when you get NO together again without Hook´s whiningly tedious bass droning on, howzabout you start using the old rattling synths again like in the mid 80s, rather than ´rocking out´cos it´s just not as good.

  • Favorite song from Low Life. Well maybe tied with Sunrise. Really like the outro to this song. So brilliant. The flip side to Perfect Kiss.

  • What is that wood-panel synth that Gillian is playing?

  • @madamatv looks like a prophet 5

  • I love this so much,as Bernard said in Dublin SFX,'86,your country is a fuckin awful place,if i lived here...,I'll never hold that again't you Bernard.

  • Boy we lived in a mixed up state then. Was worth the effort though.

  • @elevenpond Interesting. New Order was great, but a Dance group can never better a Rock one.

  • see comment at' in a lonely place'

  • bass is out of tune as is Bernard, stil great though.

  • Sheesh, Gillian dressed like a frumpy housewife and Bernard could have worn some pants.

  • @ManilaSyndicate

    It was the 80s.

  • @ManilaSyndicate ere, bernard looks the shit here man. i think its made all the more entertaining by how high he is too

  • @ManilaSyndicate REALLY? Since when does dressing have to do anything with the artist's musical experience? I would have thought some people don't feel the need of wearing sparkling outfits to stand out more as long as their music is all right.

I know of people like 'The Smiths' who didn't feel the need to wear sparkly dresses or show off their clothes. The same applies to New Order, and that made me admire them more because they didn't feel the need to show off like that.

  • @ManilaSyndicate it was 1984...

  • @ManilaSyndicate I think they're dressed wonderfully lol :P so 80's its not even funny haha!

  • @madamatv :-)

  • @ManilaSyndicate no way man. this style fucking rocked! i bet you look like a frumpy househusband now and your wife isn't wearing any pants. she was hot!

  • Mais Live P.A. que isso, impossível?

Feito ao vivo, na raça (?), eletrônica, haha

    Mravilhosos

  • In answer to a previous post, no way was any of this shown during Live Aid!!!

It was part of one of the "Whistle Test" marathon shows, I vividly remember watching this New Order session during the afternoon and taping it from the radio at the same time. I can't get my head around it being 25 years ago!?!!!

  • I have read all the critisism about New Order being out of time and all that stuff... These people miss the point of New Order and the reason why they became so big and copied all over the world..

They developed slowly, they never did what a major record label wanted them to do and for that reason we will be searching in 50 years time for another band to match their origanal idea's..

  • They came up with that tenor bass guitar stuff and made it big.

  • "To buy a drink there is much more reasonable, I think I'll go there when it gets seasonable". I love it.

  • Hook is looking buff.

  • Hooky always did:-p

  • you really can hear a hint of Kraftwerk in their days as New Order and even in some of Closer.

  • There's one song missing from this session series..the really sombre heavy one.

    Wonder why.

  • ..my mistake. Lonely place has recently been added.

    Thanks adz.

  • it must have been hot that day, lol

  • It was a long hot summer and the ABH was the same. The story was that New Order were late arriving and had driven a long way to be there ( like the first line ). Being late for a live gig at the beeb would have been bad.

I watched this on my bed drinking and enjoyed the songs but the performance was poor. Nice to hear a few from Low Life before it was released in 1985.

  • Remember this being broadcast on Live Aid, anyone else remember it?

  • The Hookster looks hot in this vid.

  • this shit is totally out of sync...

  • nothing to do with talent! it's pure emotion only new order knows!

  • Pretty song.

  • Does anyone now wich samplers Hooky and steve are using in this video,, i've tried to look it up but i can't find it. oooh that beautiful sound!!

  • Emulator was used during this gig

  • funny the engineers at 0:30 min are at the board like, "holy shit they sound like crap, WTF is goin on with these cats!!!"

  • this honestly sounds like my high school band at practice. Not that I'm any better of a musician, now, but seriously, these guys were touring and making a lot of money to do this. That is admirable.

  • wow they sound horrible live, better stay in the studio where you can re-record and edit everything over and over because when put on the spot they sound pretty spotty. Are these guys tone deaf everything is out of tune and off beat! I would have been pretty embarrassed to have made this in BBC studios. Still love New Order because they try so damn hard to keep it together while the whole track sounds like a derailing train that's about to fly off the tracks

  • Oh what memories it brings back

  • Gillian looks like a beginner is playing synth....

  • I suppose you can do better?

  • no big deal. Everyone can learn that

    beginner-skills in a few days.

  • Probably my most fav n.o. song. We need more posters of it on utoob.

  • This was my first NW album, I still listen to it 20 years later.

  • Great song from a great band. Not so sure about the shorts Barney!

  • But all the fangirls love him wearing them!

  • good song had never heard it before

  • anyone got any more live versions of this?

  • Too bad I didn't know about these guys back when I was in high school. I could have been the only one on campus who knew who they were, and maybe some would have thought I was "cool" because of that. But, alas, I was like all my fellow schoolmate schumcks who had no idea they even existed.

  • Dear dudes, Welco to mine machine. Enjoy yon we still hsve ye oil. Zes is the berst partay that you could conundrum.

  • Why "Gay Sperm" though? It's funny but I don't get it.

  • It's just the name of the equipment Hire company IIRC

  • such a lovely song, how i love this band

  • This was done right in the middle of their best ever tour which started in Sunderland and ended at Heaven in London. Those were the days. It was one crazy few weeks for us lunatics who followed them everywhere in those days!

They had wanted to play other tracks but due to technical problems they could not. Bernard was not in the best of moods even before they started, and you could say it got progressively worse as the performance went on!

  • I forgot how I used to like this song. Thanks for putting this up! Cheers for gay sperm!!!!

  • I remember waiting by the video and stereo pressing record at the same time !! The 80's great times and New Order well simply the best!!

  • @ 3.51 gorgeous guitar and bass outro

  • Morris is a Great drummer^^

  • Is Bernie is using a Lance Armstrong bracelet?

  • While it looks similar, bracelets with the name Lance Armstrong were non-existent in 1984.

So, while yellow bracelets may have existed, remember that the Lance Armstrong thing was recent.

    :(

  • how i'd love to be enjoynig a gram with the boys back then.

  • The coolest band ever....and so effortless!

  • i like the fact that they got away with putting "gay sperm" on their speaker rack (behind barney) :D

  • freakin' amazing raw creativity

  • muuuittoooo booommm!!!

  • never heard this song before thanks for the footage great to see them in a studio setting

  • a criatividade da nova ordem...

  • One of the many reasons I wish I grew up in the 80's!

  • bernard seems to be a bit stressy

  • This is awesome, many THX !

  • "radio 1, 275 and 285" - ha ha, cheers adz

  • Incredible! Is there any way to download the videos?

  • amazing rare video never seen it before good job tanx adz1962
