  • Right read about this couple man carves ivory and woman is retired ballet dancer.

  • I love to see inside where people live in whatever way they choose to live! Thank you!!

  • hey, im super judgemental and telling people they suck even though im on youtube talking about sustainability. that place is awesome so shut the fuck up.

  • Hello were is this? I used to live on a float house in Effingham inlet, I live in Scotland now but will probably move back some time and im always up for meeting like minded people.

  • heaven on earth

  • It may be 100% sustainable but I would have to doubt that they use it that way since I see food in BOXES on the table and the plastic barrel etc. Does anyone actually know what 100% sustainable is? It means NOT buying anything and to do that you can't have anything boxed or plastic and that takes years. This is a lie from people with way too much money.

  • @becky3086 It's self-reliant. Most people use 'self sufficient' and 'self reliant' synonomously. Still absolutely gorgeous and an excellent idea.

  • I really liked your video! I have dreamed of living in a place like that for a long time, but until I saw your place I didnt have a clue. Thank you for your insperation.

Iwas wondering if you guys also commercial fish. the aluminum skiff that I guess your husband was in is for fishing (siening maybe or gill net?)

I think that raising native fish in pens would be a great way to provide food that would be avalible anytime.

Stay pure and please make another video,

    A guy in Florida dreaming.

  • why do we have to listen to this annoying crappy music,, I could finish the video,, and interesting as the house was,,

  • I'm not a gardener so this may be a naive question but living in a place that has less than mild winters and a lot of days with no sun how do you sustain growing plants, even with your greenhouses? Are you augmenting the ability to grow by using artificial light in your greenhouses? And if so how do you sustain that in winter months when you can't generate sufficient power from sunlight? Clearly you have this figured out but I'm confused. Thanks.

    JD

  • it seemed like a nice place to live until that annoying little drumming Robot contraption kicked in, why can't people just keep it as peaceful as possible?

  • whats keeping it afloat?

  • I see alot of manufactured goods. The only way to live 100% self suffeicient is to do as the natives do. These folks may have cheaped out on alot of things but still alot of manufactured goods here. non-natural,etc....

  • that's cool but that song is god aweful.

  • You need a "cash" crop ; )

  • And then it sunk.

  • I would love to live like this. I'm so sick and tired of the rat race that is our current society.

  • Im A Dwarf And Im Floating In A House FLOATY FLOATY HOUSE :D

  • Do you ever have problems with the authorities over issues like boat license, taxes, environmental issues, waste disposal issues, property water right issues? This is a really cool life style. This is something that money cannot buy. More power to you.

  • were do they go to the bathroom?

  • Not long til the government goes there and tell you you cant just live peacefully out there in the beautiful wilderness. :(

    Hopefully not..

ADOPT ME! Ill help out in the gardening and with all the creative art innovations. :)

  • wow!

  • Cooool!!

  • AWESOME!

  • This makes me think of the movie water world.

It's really amazing that this is possible.

What was it like staying there? Was the water swimable?

  • where are all the men??

  • Wow!!! <3

  • i never seen anyhting like that home. its beautiful i would love to live there

  • that place is beautiful, its like a personal sanctuary.. Great music choice btw, hehe, <3

  • awesome!

  • someone should inform the government immediately about this!! These people are obviously breaking the law by not paying land taxes or working 1/3rd of their life away!!!

they must pay for this terrorism against our society!!!! TERRORISTS!!!

  • @pwjm shut up and go live like a slave.

  • @superraider408 Lol. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. It was my attempt at satire.

  • @pwjm lol i got your satire. But "working away 1/3 of their life" !?!?! In what world do you live in where you can retire after working only a third? lol more like 4/5ths

  • anyone have a gps location of this cove, id love to look it over on google earth

  • this is a work of art in totaly the shit realy

  • This looks good, do your thing girl. Do you pay any bills?

  • So did you purchase the land or the actual water?

This is VERY interesting to me and I'd LOVE to know the specifics!

  • Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!

What a fantastic place to be- well done!

  • seems like it would get a little cold in the winter. what about septic? looks awesome.

  • Tu eres mi Mundo Reciclado.

  • Awesome! Going Galt, i agree!

  • Wonderful!

I hope to do something like this, so this is very inspirational.

    Thanks. :o)

  • I thought my net-zero solar powered home was unique....wow..

  • Good to see the usual smattering of moronic comments under this video.

Anyway... looks like a really beautiful place. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow....I got tired of the "fisherman" after about 5 seconds (you had to add the bell didnt you?) can he be made quieter?

  • Very cool, you guys! The gardening is pretty amazing!

  • how were yall ale to get permission to do somthing like this did yall buy the land and everything around it or somthing.

  • The little fellow @ 1:50; is the silence is too deafening in the woods? Perhaps there is a freeway or sawmill next door?

Otherwise, LL a very cool place to live. Thanx for sharing.

  • Why in the world would does this video have some stupid pop music that comes in and out? What does pop music have to do with people who live off the grid? I would think that the pop music represents everything they hate.

  • I know, the music is terrible

  • That's for gay-people only ?

  • id enjoy life there!

  • i'd grow weed there

  • LOL. I'd stay there and just do meth.

  • Hello from across the Georgia Strait on Powell Lake. We live almost full time on a float cabin up the lake. It is much smaller but we have a floating garden. I am intrigued by your greenhouse. How do you keep it from getting damaged in the winds. Our place gets hit pretty hard during winter storms. - Margy

  • Hi Margy, this is a message from Catherine : we use 10ml plastic, use wood strips nailed down over the plastic every 15inches or so,keep the greenhouse low... ours are about 7ft. high and we also have created wind breaks around our greenhouses.

    Hope this helps!

  • @fstefan31 can you hunt there?

  • sweet crib, was that a model railroad at 4:11?

  • what is the name to the song

  • Natasha Beddingfield - Pocket Full Of Sunshine

  • I like this Float House, this video is one of my favorite. I just want to know, this is a vacational house or people live there? What happen if the boat demage? how you buy food, go work, have electricity?

  • They live there all year round and have been for around 17 years. This type of system needs constant attention since it is on the water and needs constant repair. They are artists so work on their float house and sell their art in cities. They grow most of their own food and only go to the small town, Tofino BC to buy the few things they can't grow. They have solar panels and a generator for electricity.

  • So is the body of water they're on located on public property, or private? If it's public, how have they gotten away with it? I can't imagine the government in the USA allowing that, much less Canada. I'd be worried about being kicked out...after all, where (and how) would you tow that thing? Cool, though.

  • they are anchored to crown land and pay taxes for that priviledge. They are floating in the ocean, and the oceans are public and free, it is only the land that is owned and the piece they are tied to is owned by the government so they pay a fee every year to tie a few ropes to the shore.

  • THAT is Amazing from all that green gardening from Florida the sunshine state where many people are not allowed to have a life like that... TO have solar panels to make electrical power just seems to be banned unless it is tens of thousands of us dollars for what is said to be only a few hundreds in most other areas

  • Fruity colours contrast to much with the nature and green theme. Space cadets.

  • They painted it this color because it is the color of the first flower that grows after a fire has taken the forest. It is the color of fireweed and it is a color that is in harmony with the natural surroundings

  • Very nice place! It is very inspiring. Awful camera work, though! Keep that camera still, please, it is hard to focus and see anything ... and I want to see it!

  • I agree on the camera work! I'd just bought a new camera and discovered the video part of it while visiting. The utube clip was put together by my niece because I wanted to show my friends at work where I went on vacation. I intend to go there again this summer and would really like to do another clip that is more purposeful.

  • And there's no lawn to cut! FAntastic!

  • is there a contact for these folks? i ripped out a picture of this house ages ago and just rediscovered it and would love to find out more about this!

  • That is a bunch of hard work, but the fruit is well worth it.

  • Richest people I know. Well done.

  • beautiful !

  • where in b.c. can i live off the land in a way that yall do?

  • This float house is located on Vancouver Island.

  • Very NIce! Really like the gardens. Please see my floating home video above.

  • This is the best video On U TUBE. And I love the song.Who is it?

  • Thanks! Nathasha Beddingfield is the artist, Pocket full of sunshine is the song

  • Holy Moly Lindsay. That is fantastic. You must be very proud of them. I wish that more of our young can lead the way for us old uns that have so much to learn from them.

    Blessings, Mary Joseph

  • Excellent! Is it okay for me to boast that Jean and I helped get this living work of art started?

How come? April 1, 1956, Catherine came to be our first, and only, daughter. That was when I was the UC minister at Tide Head, a small town five miles west of Campbellton, NB--just east of Quebec. Her brother, Turner, now a musician and teacher, came along, in 1958, in Montreal.

The King family is a proud supporter of the arts. Einstein said: "Imagination is more important than knowledge."

  • Wow - you had always told me her place was amazing!!

  • bad ass!!!!!
