It isn't meant as an imitation or copy. This is drag- a fun salute/homage to the Judy with tongue firmly implanted in cheek. RW flubbed some lyrics, and they all needed another couple hours practicing the dance number. But that's not the point. He's not presuming to do it better or pretending he has her astonishing, unique star quality. He is saying "We still love you Judy" and "Wasn't she fabulous," and blowing her a kiss across the great divide. But I will say- he's got the better gams!

Rufus deserves big credit for reminding a new generation (gay ~and~ straight) that Garland is arguably the world's greatest performing legend, ever.

He has fun with this, it's joyful, and, for awhile there, younger gays were trying to put Judy back in the closets they themselves escaped. No one wants to be stereotyped, i.e. Gay = Loving Garland, but ANYBODY should be proud to love her legendary talent. Rufus reminds straight and gay people NEVER to be ashamed of Judy, via this tribute work.
