@milascave2 Woody wrote Jesus Christ to the tune of Jesse James. This song was recorded by Bascom Lamar Lunsford in the mid 1920's, Woody's version is from the 1940's. Woody used to do this a lot, This Land is Your Land is written to the tune of When the World's on Fire by the Carter Family.
In the fall of 1958, somebody had a Weavers record. That was smack in the folk music interval started by the Kingston Trio in 1957 with their song "Tom Dooley."
That was all you heard in the South Quad, University of Michigan.
