I think she's one of the easiest extra bosses because her spells have lots of openings and she doesn't have as much stars as others had.

However, some of her spells are really tricky and confusing, so it doesn't matter there's a huge opening, I commonly find myself running stupidly towards the bullets while fighting her.

I think Fujiwara no Mokou is the easier one, since there's spell card practice, it makes it easier to figure out the gimmicks; there is a chance of capturing Flaw of Forgiving shrine without even moving.

Are you kidding me? Flan is definitely the easiest. I've played both Suwako's and Flandre's extra stages around the same amount of times. I got farther on Flandre on my 3rd attempt at reaching the boss. In fact, I captured ATTWBN on my second attempt at it. Only thing keeping me from finishing it is QED.

I still can't reach Suwako's last 4 cards.

Can't really say much about Mokou as it was my first extra stage that I cleared. (8X tries)

PC-98 extra stages are consistently tricky.

Still don't get all the comparisons between Flandre and Nue. Flandre is easily the easiest extra stage boss in the whole series with only one bullshit card to deal with. Nue seems to be tricky all around. Sure, they might look slightly similar, they might have themes that sound closely similar at first, but there's a HUGE difference between the two of them.

You can capture it entirely via vertical movement while focused. I'm actually not too good at reading the direction of the bullets though, so I tend to also use horizontal and no-focused movement in order to offset any error in my (bad) choices.

@randallreynolds I usually move in circles counterclockwise, passing through a curtain, then down and right to buy me time to spot the gap in the next curtain, then pass through the next, etc. However, I hate the three spells of Kogasa Tatara and I usually bomb-rush them. A tip: if you try to collect bombs instead of lives with the UFOs of this stage, you can get 3 or 4 extra bombs, enugh to play safe and reach Nue with most of your lives intact.

Rather than giving numerical ratings, I'll say that its fun is somewhere around average. Its difficulty is far closer to the newer Extras than the older ones, so if you found Suwako and Koishi easy, then Nue will be easy as well.

Hah, yeah, some midbosses can be a bit mean. I'll say that Kogasa is probably harder than Kanako and Keine though, the easiest two midbosses in my opinion.

Nue's not really hard, I just absolutely cannot stand curved squiggly lasers. I don't know why ZUN used them so much in Stage 5 and 6, and I wanted to scream when I saw them in Extra Stage.

And yeah, Kogasa is easy. Her 2nd card can be a bit tough though I guess, and her 3rd card can catch you by surprise. The lasers materialize very fast, so if they land on you, expect auto-death.

Talking about those lasers reminded me of the Prismriver sister Sakuya fights...at least I can run away to the side of the screen to avoid them completely...no such luck here though.

On a different note: Nue's survival card. Out of Flandre, Ran/Yukari, Mokou, Suwako and Koishi, where would you rate it?

Yeah, Nue's final card is way harder than Koishi's, but Koishi's is funner :P

And as for time out cards... here's a rough sketch (note, I haven't played against Flandre and Koishi in a long time).

Koishi > Flandre > Nue > Suwako (easy once you figure it out) > Ran > Yukari > Mokou (very easy once you figure it out)

I might just be crazy, I don't know.

Hm, I'll have to buy a new graphic card to see if Koishi's survival card is harder than Flandre's (I could play SA at 2fps, but...). For the time being, I find Flandre's to be the hardest. I keep accidentally getting myself cornered during the beginning phase of her attack, usually when the second or third loli-seeking danmaku appears.

As for what you said about the others (Suwako and on), yeah, that looks about the same as what I think.

I still have no idea how to do the second phase of Mokou's survival. =( Those blue spearhead bullets wind up overlapping me everytime.

I still have a lot of trouble with Suwako's first survival. When the second familiar (or whatever it is) spawns, I just panic.

For Mokou it's easy when you got it once...the trick is to run in circles unfocused, you will see the blue lines separate leaving space for you to go trough after you cleared the blue part, her red part is fairly easy its basically her spamming her bullets from Fujiwara Volcano. And I had no Idea you played Touhou and ITG ^.^ Nice sims btw ^.^
