i completely identify with Elphaba. growing up, i was never considered the pretty, popular girl. i was a bit weird, and i had my multiple flaws. i still do. beauty is much, much deeper than skin deep.
Elphaba is the best. She wanted to make a difference, to fight for those that were belittled. She understood the Animals feelings and throughout her life she regretted the mistakes she made and tried to fix them. The book is amazing, now on to The Son of the Witch. Tried not to spoil the plot but its soooo harrd!!! WICKED is AMAZING!! A MUST READ AND SEE!!! :P

@hunt3rock0n yea i'm pretty sure thats him. he was in the show. he even got to be Fiyero in at least one show. there are clips of it here on youtube. he was actually pretty good. he should have stuck with broadway.
you know wat i noticed? every elphie ends up singing defying gravity in a different way. i mean, its like they arent going by the original score or anything. but you know wat? thats the best part. :)
Well it is a play. The core of the song is there, but like everything, there will always be slight variations to it. It's what makes each actor unique.
Dorthy and all the main characters of The Wizard of Oz are mentioned at one point in the show. It all ties into the amazing story of Wicked-The Musical.
I think their voices are too... deep (is that the right word?), not pitch-wise but, in tone quality, i don't think they suit Elphie or Glinda very well
its true and most of the broadway shows Glinda has a much more WINEY tone and a bit higher pitched that grows lower a bit as she gets older and more "refined" and powerful. while Alphie actually stays semi the same, a bit low but that is for the harmony portions.
A little disappointed that they didn't have anything with the original cast. I mean, Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel originated the roles and spent years and YEARS working on it. I wish they had at least al little bit in there with them.
I wonder why the person who desgined the stage put the evil clock dragon thingy if they didn't even include that part in the musical.... It's cool though :]
no - not the London Production! I know it's there! The TOURING production? London is a 75 minute flight, over-night accommodation and about $1000 all in with tickets for 2!
When is it going to tour to Belfast or Dublin is what I was getting at!!! lol - that's a rhetorical question!
My 4 year old son wants to see The Emerald City!! I'm going to have to book flights to London soon!! - when is the touring production coming to Europe / UK!!!!??????
lol bit boring but i need it for a school assignment

the way each actress puts a different spin on the songs and character is what makes the play interesting even when you've seen it 3 times.

I'm not saying this in any bad way, but it seems like the songs with Glinda and Elphie are lower than the original.

The "war cry" as it is, is often riffed depending on the actress. It's really her personal take on it.
