Tony Humphries played this in Zanzibar for months before it was officially released. This song set the clubs on fire in North Jersey ( especially Newark, Irvington and East Orange) and NYC. I do not like going to the clubs as much. The most of the clubs play music from the radio or water down club mixes.
You some imagination there, friend ^_^ (I say friend after my sentences because my friend did that, and I copied her :3) ♥ing the unique perspective on this jam though! :Y
I like this sowng. It reminds me ah da Japanese cawtoon Love Hina. I imagine da characters in dat anime playin' instruments at da Hinata apartments. J.T.'s got imagination.
My fave mix is the one Tony H used to rock...raw original demo version that Renato hit him up on reel. It had the 909 hi hat so bright and in your face. I love riding vocals over it to this day.
Where is the Version Just like this one but with the LEAD VOCALS added in? I was waiting and they never showed up but I guess this was the Instrumental version?
You are so right all. I can see see Tony Humphries spinning this track in one his mixes down at Zanzibar. I'm happy to see my son enjoys deep soulful house like his old man. Thanks for posting this track up.
THIS was house. This *is* house. Honestly, what happened? How did things devolve into what they are today? Not to sound like an old-fart or a has-been or anything, but I just don't get it. I really just don't get it.
I agree 100% . music today have deluted to a point is not even worth of turning the radio sometimes...SO Glad i was able to experience the best years of house music in NYC...!!!! the young generation have no idea.........
Totally. It's funny, because back then I used to look upon it is being kind of silly how many folks coined the music as "underground house". But now, in retrospect, it really was an underground scene. Does any kid today know anything about this era? Moreover, what percentage of people *our age* even know about any of this? Not that I'm blowing smoke up our own asses or anything for being in-the-know, but I agree totally. I'm extremely grateful to have been there to be a part of it.
@DeepGarageHead i guess that was more of a US coined term, as even though it was relatively under in europe, it wasnt refered to that way, many parties had the word tagged somewhere int he title - but i dont remember say i love to listen to underground house - if anything it was garage for a while.
@DeepGarageHead well to be honest i still love the early sounds, and i continued to enjoy house into the mid nineties when i guess my friends changed, i moved, so i wasnt partying anymore, so i suppose i let house music slip, and during a period it seemed to me that there was less and less quality, but i sincerely believe that there is a major revival that has been happening in terms of quality in soulful / deep house since 2000 more or less... but then again, its always a question of taste ...
