Dead is just typical. Everyone finds him so cool because he killed himself and that fact makes him extra grim or something. It's just stupid. It's about the feeling you can produce. Mayhem is dark music, and the vocals of Atilla represent this darkness so great that dead is a childish idiot if you compare the two.

I think in technique, attila is the best, because of his range... but dead's vocals were rotten and hollow... perfect for old mayhem. I think maniac is better with his others projects like skitliv, and in the deathcrush EP, but in the middle era mayhem, he fucked up his voice... just listen to his performance in the wacken open air 2004... its just painful. that's my opinion, btw.

In theory, if Dead and Maniac had switched positions, as in Maniac was the psycho dude who wrote Freezing Moon, and everybody thought was amazing, but the vocals, are the same of Maniac's, and Dead was now the "stand-in" Maniac always were, Dead (In this story, Maniac) shoots himself, and you all think he was the best. Maniac (Dead in this story) goes on to make stupid side projects like Skitliv and he gets pretty much no recognition whatsoever.

Well if you look at it when Dead was alive he pretty much was good when he was still alive. I will be honest he is my favorite vocalist Mayhem had cause I loved him in "Dawn Of The Black Hearts" and "Freezing Moon" single but the pther recordins I have heard he sucked bad but you have to remember he was still young.
