weell i play snare on this song an the snare sounds of an u dont play the accents not to b mean haha damn n u can b more dramatic with the dynamics feel it more so an the 1eanda 2and 3 and wit accents should of been ghost notes basically on the non acciented notes but ill have to post qa vid of us haha not bad tho
I know Man!!! There was no musical feel to the snare part!!! There are no accents whatsoever and it was just straight out same dynamics and no variations.
And unless your gym is customized for bands to be playing there, i dont think it's a good idea to play concert music in gyms.
Other then that, i liked it :]
and btw, didnt mean to bring you down, it's just what i think :P better audi recording equipment would've made your band sound much much better. Good job :]
Yeah, we weren't too thrilled when we got notice that we were playing in a gym. Our town was sponsoring a night of "Music in Our Schools" and this was the only available setting where we could fit all the parents. Unfortunately, we'll be playing here again at the end of March =[
This is a very good performance indeed. Perhaps it's simply the quality of the video, but at times the intonation seemed just a little off, particularly in the clarinet section (towards the beginning). The overall balance, blend, pulse control, & technique was great. My band is doing this. This can be quite a challenging piece. :)
I agree with the intonation being off in the clarinet section in the beginning. I also found that the conductor definitely didn't go into half time, at best, maybe three-fourths time, but I noticed very distinct differences in the speed that I can definitely tell were an interpretation by the conductor.
This definitely gives me a good idea as to what to expect my HS band to play (We are playing this for our Spring Concert with Mr. Hazo conducting us...) But I must say, very good performance.
I have to agree, this was played rather well. Especially in the 5/4 part in the beginning and the 5/8 parts where the baris play the D flats. There were a few parts that sounded a little off but overall i enjoyed it.
Thanks, we actually formed our marching band show (2007) around this song. Check it out! And dont forget to check out this year's marching band show too.
Is there a written in gong part? our band doesnt play it either.... wtf....
