Yeh i agree, Swann is the more complete cricketer, and he's been far more effective than Monty of late - dunno what went wrong with monty! I should create a video of Swann's batting heroics... when i created this video for monty - however - he was not being picked down-under and instead Ashley Giles was playing - so this video was to show he could bat a bit

He bowls for the subtle variation that guides the ball past the bat.

I'm a massive monty fan - but i gotta say id pick swann. He's impressed with ball and bat and often gets wickets with his first over. Also Aussies are coming and they have lots of left-handers - so id have to go with Swann

I agree. Monty has taken a bit of a hit with his fall from grace. But he's such a lovely guy and great for the game. He's still only 28. I have to say though, Swann is on fire at the moment, and ideal for the Aussie lefties. He took 4 wickets today. It looks like Finn is finding the spot after over pitching in the first innings.

@gstar9610 that is complete rubbish. why has swanny been so much more effective in his 2nd series against other nations if he has no varition. he has much more variation than monty. monty just has the off break. swann has the off break, arm ball and top spinner, and he variates his pace far more than monty. hows that for variation?

@gstar9610 Swann can bat, he's 2nd best bowler in the rankings right now, fastest spinner to get 100 wickets( I've heard, not sure) and he turns the ball ALOT more than monty could. And monty never used any other variation. Swann has a faster ball, Top Spinner, Arm Ball, Stock Delivery and a very occasional doosra.

Good batting by Monty, but I noticed he covers too much of the stumps when he bats, most specialist batsmen take a guard from outside leg stump to middle and leg (Where the toes should be lined up with). If he gets hit on the pads, its a likely LBW.
