  • Is this about the Fenris wolf? It sounds like that legend. The great wolf who is bound from now till the end times where he will strike down those who betrayed him.

  • oh god how did I get here from Justin Bieber.

  • This song is perfection.

  • The one thing that bugs the hell out of me is her use of the word "spate".

I see them going over her in the vocals...nice...

  • Its seriously a work of art..I love how her song is more like poetry and sung as though it was meant to be a spoken word poem~

  • it reminds me of the Solefald.

  • I love the utter innocence and creepiness of her sweet voice.

  • Hmm... I don't love it personally, but it is very interesting. And she has a wonderful voice.

  • slut metal ........sorry SLUDGE METAL

  • Post-metal?

  • this song scares me it inspires me at the same time and of course i like it :3

  • Is spate even a freaking word??

  • Amo todo el teatro que crea solo con sus letras y su voz. Es como si en verdad te sintieras en esa posicion que ella describe.

  • <3

  • I used to listen to this album quite a bit back when it first came out, but then forgot about and just rediscovered it. I love it. Every track is completely saturated with emotion.

  • I've never heard anything quite like this before... I'm glad I stumbled across it though!

  • I have never heard anything like this...

Holy crap this is awesome in the weirdest sense of the word...

  • They say I'm like a dog...

  • This song is so heavy... In a way that's on a whole other level altogether. Just dripping with atmosphere, and so beautifully melancholy. Art at its highest form.

  • @L1NCHP1N Well said. So refreshing to hear something that haunts, tickles the senses, and sends the mind reeling in search of deeper meanings. As you so poetically said it, Art in it's highest form.

  • For some reason this reminds me of the Cheshire cat.....

  • the little girl vocal's dont sound good at all... i dont get it lol.

  • Lol Björk

  • i've listen to this song for like 2 year this song is awesome

  • Do you know the feeling when you´re mindlessly surfing on the web and discovering awesome music?

Thank you for putting this on youtube!

    I already ordered the LP

  • frankly, this is amazing, no doubt about that. and the vocalist? she reminds me of martin walkyier-only prettier, younger and more suitable for the music:)

  • this song..kinda makes me angry

  • This song explains my how i am what i am and how i became what i am now

  • @MrMadbaby i officially think i just fucked your mother

  • Julie Christmas - the singer from Battle of Mice/Made out of Babies releases her solo album "The Bad Wife" on Nov. 9th. It's getting awesome reviews..

Just checked out her the video premier for the album. If I knew how to upload a video, I would, but it's on stereogum and vimeo..

    It's weird - just like you'd expect...

    I think I'm officially a BIG FAN

  • check out another Julie Xmas side project, SpylacopA, good ♫ stuff as well.

  • fantastic.love this band....keep on the good music!

  • totally kick ass

  • probably the saddest lyrics ever.

  • @Smkiller I completely agree. At first i was like what the hell. But as she progressed further into the song the further my mind expanded.

  • did she do work with mouth of the architect and kenoma?>

  • absolutely amazing song and band !!!! thank you last.fm for making me discover this !!!

  • I'm not usually into this kind of music but I love Battle Of Mice and the lyrics and the singing in this song are enchanting

  • I can totally imagine Julie reading the beginning part to a group of little kids. She has that kind of voice during that part.

  • She has a twisted, disturbed voice. It fits the music perfectly! I love it

  • My friend played this in my car and I looked at her like she was bat shit crazy for liking it. But the more she played it when we hung out the more I started to like it. Now I can't get enough of the song.

  • This song is so good I almost cried when I first heard it

  • love the voice :), it's cute ^^ , and twisted and disturbed 0.0 and a bit scary,

    so it's like....

    perfect!

  • this song is tha cooliest song i have ever heard

  • this song is weird

  • a song is never just a song

unless some kid bought it from a man in a suit

  • i love this :D

  • Or buy the album

  • You know what? The song's good, but I think all these commenters are taking this a little too seriously. It's a song, people, no need to get all weird.

  • This chick reminds of the lead singer form Jack off Jill. Still sick song and pimp band.

  • FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG

  • I love this song, eerie, odd and just unique.

The vocalist sounds A LOT like Bjork however. :]

  • At the beginning she sounds like the childs voice in Enter Sandman. It's really creepy and I love it.

  • I love it. Its dark and a little eerie, and when she gets heavy it sounds beautiful. The music is melodic and flows great as well.

  • So...disturbing... yet awesome.

  • rly strange but cool

  • This song helps me exist.

  • @itowedin uhhh.... this song (Just like every other song) is just a song... we can leave it at that. I like this one, and there are some I like less than this, and there are some that I like more than this, but they are still all the same. No getting weird...

  • @DragonofViruses15

You know what man...This song helped me get through an incredibly tough time in my life. Loss of my business, loss of my home, betrayal of family during that time, and ultimately it was small thing of many that kept me strong enough to seek help when I became suicidal after the recession backed me into a corner.

As a degree holding musican I can tell you that sometimes songs are way more than just songs.

  • @itowedin

May the light of hope and strength, reveal you the path to happyness throught the dark Era you face...

  • @DragonofViruses15

I never do this and I can't believe I'm doing this now, but I can promise you that if you were somehow accessible I would physically assault you for that comment of yours. Your myopic view of my "wierdness" offends me that much. Maybe you shouldn't flex your "cerebral" bravado over things that are trivial to you. You have a lot of growing to do and I wish more than anything that I could violently assist that growth.

  • @itowedin thats heavy

  • Melt Banana

  • @eroticmisery i dont really see much of a similarity with this any Melt-Banana but i do love Melt-Banana

  • @21Kyzix12 Just the girls voice slightly.

  • her slippery sliding voice ebbs and flows with the riffs, not a a huge fan of female vocalist within heavier music but she harness's a lot of power as she tip toes through madness

  • omg. your comment is so inspiring.

  • I wasnt taking that as serious as you are, lighten up francis!

  • For example I am no fan of arch nemesis but this girl kicks ass.

  • @SECtennesseeSEC I think the same as you..I actually dont like bands with female vocals but this girl sings really cooll..

please listen to spylacopa, the other band of this girld and greg puciato from dillinger escape plan..

  • @SECtennesseeSEC You wrote the lyrics to the song, didn't you?

  • oh my shit. this is god- oh wait i think i had that sentence mistaken

  • Oh my god. I think I just fell in love.

  • I see it more as the bastard daughter of Babes in Toyland, PJ Harvey and Bjork :)

  • Brilliant album! xx

  • I love the vocals.

Sounds like a psychopathic little girl <3

  • @ valgorum no they sold to an off shore co. Mininova and isohunt are still up to. If you Dl the record just make sure to kick the band down with some cash @ their website

  • Check they're website and buy the record or go to pirates bay

  • Didn't pirate's bay shut down?

  • Yea for a whopping 24 hours. Then they were back. Shows you how much the lawsuits did.

  • nope their servers are in a atomic nuke proof bunker now (it's true!)

  • I want this song sooo bad!!! I can't find it at all!!!! =(

  • @BoliviaRulez28 Just download Audacity, record it, and then download a converter (Look around Audacity download pages, it's somewhere around there). It'll allow you to convert the file into an MP3 file for your Ipod, or whatever you have. In fact, that's exactly what I'm doing right now.

  • THank you! But I was actually able to find the song! How lucky am I! =D But thank you so much for your advice! ;)

  • i agree with xelair ;)

  • I typically don't listen to anything with female vocals, but I must say this is really great.

  • That's how I am. Julie Christmas is probably one of the most innovative frontwomen in music! Also, Jarboe's pretty fucking cool :)

  • meh onli gets good bout 4:22

  • haha great ferrytale voice :D !

  • Great song!

  • Anyone know if the singer did any voice acting; she almost sounds like Imoen (sp?) from that old PC game Baldur's Gate?

  • Great song, have this from the Triad split with Red Sparowes, Battle of Mice, and Made out of Babies. All great bands.

  • thats true haha

  • sadly i doubt anybody here cares what your mum thinks you should just let it go

  • lol

  • wow. u realy must be desperate

  • and i made you a sister Afroman lol

  • aww, well if your mummy says so its clearly for freaky ppl, well thats about 22,000 whove already watched this vid

  • Good job you both can spell..... you are both retarded tho. if all you can argue about is spelling. you obviously don't have any actual points. Grammar insults= a sweet smell of desperation in any good debate. "Help me i don't know anything that makes sense about this conversation." wut dar u talkn bout u stupd pec ez of scum eye hope u di an magets eet ur eyz...... haha get it or are you too dumb to figure out bad grammer?

  • It's got a really weird, dissonant sounding theme to it that I find kind of appealing somehow.

Not that I don't think there's a few places where the lyrics could do with a slight change here and there. But altogether a pretty good sound.

sounds like the Main theme track to a horror movie. (Actually, I could easily picture a Silent Hill game that the storyline is based off the lyrics.)

  • beacuse people keep comenting me!

  • people have opinions...

  • If you don't like this music, why do you keep coming here to post comments? That's just lame.

  • @mikeycat8

Opinions are like assholes....everybody has one, and it usually stinks.

  • besides that... WOW. i spend countless hours checking out bands, and just listened to this song like 20 min ago... There so organic. Just a new sound. that's awesome! It sounds like Mike Patton and Beth Gibbons (Portishead) had an offspring. haha... will definitely put this on my myspace! ohh yes the hunger for great music makes me weak... urggg

  • your obviously stupid... if you don't like this. please go back to your mainstream hole and die

  • It's not just that you can't spell-no one else here can, either-it's that your statements are barely intelligible.

I remember when they made people go to school...when did that stop happening?

  • @mikeycat8 Yeah... People have opinions. We know your opinion, so I'll tell you mine. My opinion is that the music is great. Also, my opinion is that you are a troll.

  • @mikeycat8 okay...state ur opinion rationally. dont just whine "this song is horrible, justin bieber is cool bla bla bla" why is it horrible? they dont know how to play music or is it just u who dont like it? who r u to say they're horrible? so stfu! dont dare to say anythin if ur a birdbrain

  • @madec lol you owned him

  • this song is so great!!!

  • i agree with AkuuZX

  • Then you sir, really need to broaden your musical horizons if you have trouble considering this music.

I don't care if you like it or not, but, questioning this as music?

  • Love this song

  • I'm speechless!!!!

  • She could be the next Bjork

  • Downloaded the promo of this album a while back, I didn't expect this kind of music, It was much more progressive than I expected but this song just made me shiver, so when the album was released I just bought it without thinking :) It hasn't left my 24 slot cd player since.

  • This girl is crazy. I love her.

  • Björk true

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder if you have thelyrics from the ruinner too... i would like to read them at least once -.- is a pity that living in this stupid place i can not buy those kind of cd's )= is like being in cage .

by the way sorry my bad english -.- i know it sucks - hope you understand (=

  • Yeah, Me too. I feel your hunger for great music. Youtube seems to be the only website to listen this kind of music.

  • it's like.......

    Converge meets Bjork...

    Bonverge?

  • Cjonverk

  • Björkverge

  • The comments ruin this video. Just close your eyes and listen, fools.

  • You get it.

  • yeah, this band is amazing.

  • her voice is beatifully terrifying

  • I love this song. I'm not going to attempt to anaylise why like most of these other comments - it's just good, and I like it.

  • I just interviewed Julie Xmas on my site- check my page for info... it's definitely worth a read! She talks about her upcoming solo album. :)

  • this is not a "pop" band popbands are fags like jonas brothers and miley cyris this is more of a goth metal band its not heavy enough to be a heavy metal band like made out of babies but its goth cause the song is about a tortured soul like most goth songs are about and its better than what those fag conformist jonas brothers sing about they sing about hope all hope is gone and anyone who belives their lyrics are true can go fuck themselves

  • music is music, quit your bitching.

  • Avantgarde / postmetal band, if you must label stuff.

Nothing to do with gothic metal whatsoever.

  • ROFL that is some deep shit.

  • I love Made Out of Babies, and Battle of Mice's stuff is also awesome in a different way.

  • Along the lines of My Ruin or Jack Off Jill, I mean in the talking lyrics/high girly voice. Don't know if I dig it...

  • makes the blood curdle

  • cautivante la forma de cantarde la tipa , los musico que s epuede decir puro sludgee baby.

  • this song would be a good soundtrack for a vampire movie.

  • are you kidding? the vocals are what make it better than 99% of sludge out there.

  • I have to agree the vocal is not good, but not the quality, she is a great singer, but the way the vocals are used are shit, they could have made a great song with everything they have in this song, just needed to be diferent.

  • Her voice is what makes it interesting and unique. It's incredible that she can manage to sound so feminine while screaming, and she communicates so well. It's almost like theater.

I'm so sick of hearing people scream just because it's a mainstay in their genre. A bunch of thugs screaming because they think they're tough guys can't hold a candle to a scream that actually evokes your fight or flight response. This band makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

  • exactly. i think she's fucking amazing, like nothing i've ever heard.

  • you are 100% correct. you really know what your talking about :) i think shes frickin amazing :)

  • I can see what you're saying, but I think you are a missing the key part of why the pop vocal is front and center. LYRICS! The "upfront vocal" is to drive the easily repeatable and hard to forget drivel into your skull. You can definitely say her voice is featured in this song, but there's never a "sing along" part.

I wouldn't be opposed to hearing screaming in this song, but they captured a great performance that I feel added a lot to the song. It's all colors in an artists palette, right?

  • Fail.

The whole reason this is so awesome is that it features singing which is actually musical, along with the sinister music.

    Screaming is dull and cliche.

  • My fail? Blanket statements like "Screaming is dull and cliche" and "Singing, which is actually musical" fail about as hard as anything can fail...

There are a million and one singers and screamers that sound completely different so don't let your own restricted personal preference speak for all practitioners.

The way you regard music makes me wonder, does all painted or drawn art have to look pretty enough to put in a post card to be called artistic??

    Screaming is a compositional tool...

  • I really don't understand this mentality that it's okay for the musicians to be talented, but if the singer has range and talent, then the music, whatever it might sound like, becomes "pop." I find the whole "BLLLAAAARRRGH!" metal voice style to be pretty ridiculous; all of those singers sound alike, it takes no vocal talent to do that, and unless you're an eighty year-old grandmother, it's not threatening at all. Nobody believes that that kind of gutteral snarling is depicting any real emotion.

  • I don't know why this is up here; it was supposed to be a reply to BassVirtual down there.

  • From your point of view, electro-industrial are pop; only they're NOT so POPular (i.e. mainstream)

  • her voice is haunting and for lack of another word beautiful. its completely different, it might take some getting used to for some people

  • W00t! for the Neurosis contrubution to this awesome band

  • This song is so damn raw.

  • they dont play live?

  • One of the best albums of this new millenium.

  • i'm agree with you.

  • this girl is so cute and she have a beautiful voice ...I'm in love

  • awesome. i love it.

  • this shit is fucking amazing!!!!!!!

  • I first heard this on Triad. Lamb and Labrador is good too. Heck, all the songs on Triad are good. I like the period of quiet before the scream. It works similarly to We Don't Get Fooled Again by the Who.

  • SO EVIL

  • Great band

    Julie is just pure wicked.

To band there ain't any female singers like her here.

Yup, this is my favorite from A Day of Nights.

I love the last part. Love how Julie's voice can sound beautiful and terrifying

  • great
