@cacrow - Aah! so that's what you call them: bollards - thanks, C - perhaps you could share some of the bike paths in your area if that's something you're into - we've got tons of dirt trails, but this is the first paved path of consequence connecting towns (at least in this region) - very nice - take care, eh! - MM
@MrVeeco - howdy, A - this is the second rails-to-trails in this region of British Columbia (Canada, eh!) that I'm aware of - the other is accessed in Cranbrook and is called the Isadore Canyon Trail which is also along an old CanadianPacific Rail line - that one seems to go on forever towards the east - not paved, though, like the one between Kimberley & Cranbrook - this one's deluxe! ; ) - thanks for coming along on the ride - MM
@PipeFriendCHS - hey, Marc - thanks for watching - I agree: the fence is there for a reason AND the bridge would look much nicer without it - if you check out all the kerfuffle over the way Canada secured the Olympic flame at this past winter games in Vancouver, you'll get an inkling into the government's mindset on taking precautions - we often overdo things a bit - take care, eh - MM
Got myself a tiny bit of virtigo from looking down that bridge. I'm sure glad it was fenced in! What a day you had there. Spectacular views and pristine bicycle trails.
@Flieger671 - thanks, M - I was just lovin' this ride - no cars or trucks to contend with; relatively level grade to ride along; great weather - hard to beat after all the months of no recumbent riding - sure missed it and this outing more than made up for the hiatus - sorry about the dizzy spell - no more such recordings in this series (I think) - bye4thisTime - MM
@Naturainfinity - glad you're still along on the pedallin' mosey, D - those mountains from that vantage point is my second favourite view of them - it's a much longer pedal to my favourite view - maybe one of these daze - take care - MM
@PipesGunsAndGold1 - I have not, B, but given the history of the area (Kootenay Gold Rush of 1864), no doubt there are tons of places to try your hand, though I don't have a clue about legalities - one & only time I tried my luck at panning was at a place along the side of Hwy 1 in Oregon, I think, that catered to the tourists - think I was like 8 or something - we stopped to give the horses a rest ; ) - you have a good one, too, eh! MM
@ContemplativePipe - they are something, eh, F? - I've driven the highway between Kimberley & Cranbrook for 30 years and never tire of the view across the Wycliffe Flats to those majestic Rockies - it's even better going through the national parks up by Banff, Jasper, Radium - stunning stuff - bet there are a couplafew YT uploads of those areas - thus spoke the Maniac ; ) - take care, MM
You sure do have some beautiful places where you live MM. Great stuff cool bridge and the bears should be getting up from there slumber there to eh? Thanks for sharing with us pard reminds me of the times worked in forestry. Safe pedaling and happy puffing.
@OneManSmoke - thanks, S - yeah ... bears and a cougar sighting already in the Lois Creek area - think it's time to purchase a fresher can of bear repellent ; ) - forest industry's realling taken a hit up here - lots of 'make work' projects for a select few to keep some of the foresters working - bummer - 'tis life, though, eh - take care & play safe when you're out-n-about with the Trimble gang - MM

I am sure they put that fence up for a reason, but that bridge would look even better without the fence
