In practise they must have about 90 % of the breaking ability of a car. Trucks and busses should always keep a good distance to the vehicle in front of them because of this, like a car should keep a good distance to a bike. But this doesn't mean they can't slow down. If a bus driver slams down the break pedal the passengers are going to get injured. These things are not like trains.
The most probable explanation to this accident is that the bus driver thought that he has no reason to slow down because the car pulled in front of him, he has the way. Pure ego.

I can't help thinking, (1) wtf didn't the bus driver slow down, there was a reasonable gap between yellow car entering, and bus using evasive action (2) The road was completely clear, why didn't the bus driver simply OVERTAKE the yellow car instead of bee-lining into that building (3) wtf didn't the yellow car stop - jerk.

Without knowing if the bus was speeding or not, it looks like the accident was 100% the fault of the ASSHOLE in the yellow car. If somebody died, HE is a MURDERER. What an ASSHOLE. Dont know what country this was in, but I hope they beat the shit out of the guy when they made contact with the guy.

I can't help thinking, (1) wtf didn't the bus driver slow down, there was a reasonable gap between yellow car entering, and bus using evasive action (2) The road was completely clear, why didn't the bus driver simply OVERTAKE the yellow car instead of bee-lining into that building (3) wtf didn't the yellow car stop - jerk.

The driver of the yellow car needs to then hydroplane and swerve uncontrollably off the road and into an embankment where he/she sustains massive debilitating injuries. You NEVER pull out in front of a bus or a truck like that. I think people who end up being found at fault for automotive accidents for negligence like this should be forced to be reevaluated as a person who is qualified to hold a driver's license. I'm tired of putting my life in the hands of idiots when I need to get from A to B.
