  • Thank you for taking your time to share with us your process and your thoughts about creating a beautiful piece of artwork. Your imagination has been reborn within this piece and witnessing it coming to life was very motivational. Oh,"..and go paint something amazing!"- That I will do Noah! Thank you again!

  • I'm still extremely new to digital and have been doing reference pics (mostly human form or something with a body in it) and I've actually learned A LOT just over 4 pics. My biggest current folly for now I would guess is that I do get bogged in details too early instead of keeping all around the composition. My current WIP I basically finished the face before moving on to the body. Granted, I think it'll all still be cohesive, but I need to pull myself from finishing something so early.

  • Thank you so much for making these! I feel like I've gone to an art class, and I loved it, haha. You bring up great points, one of the hardest things for me to accept is that I'm not going to improve overnight, but I just have to keep working and learning. I'll probably listen to this again in the future! Thanks, again!

  • Thank you so much for these videos. You have given me so much to think about.

  • I noticed your Tool Presets that list your brushes change. How did you do that? How do you organize your brushes?

  • Man you need to do some more digital paintings on here. I love watching your work. Come on we need more.

  • @artworkbymoze I livestream pretty regularly, actually (and have some new downloadable videos coming out soon). You can follow me on facebook or twitter to see when I'm livestreaming.

  • Pretty amazing job Noah! I totally agree with the way you understand/see things. Congrats!

  • Tottaly true with the sketches part ! good job

  • Wow dude! Thanks a lot for your info. I agree that the lighting is a major factor changer in an image or anything in particular. I loved this tutorial, thanks again mate =)

  • You and I are somewhat opposite. I love anatomy studies and such, and I'm pretty good with them. But when it comes to a big picture like this it turns out like garbage. I just need more practice...

  • Going on your comment about color and light...buy James Gurney's "Color and Light" for the Realistic Painter...it's the best book there is on the subject hands down. And very inexpensive for the plethora of information you get. It's been so helpful for most lighting scenarios

  • @lasthavoc Agreed. It's an amazing book. I think it's a must-have for any artist.

  • I actually felt more engaged in watching these four vids than i do in actual classes, highly appreciated Noah

  • This was really great, I actually took notes so that I wouldn't forget everything you pointed out. :) I would also like to see you do some interior environment or a city view.

  • these videos were so helpful, I hope that you'll upload more soon

  • wow, i love your tutorial!!! your explanation is very good ..

can i ask how do you change brush so fast?? and do you use pen pressure on opacity?? and/or shape dynamics in photoshop? thank you.

  • Immensely helpful, probably the best tutorial I'ver seen so far! Thanks for sharing.

    I hope you do more~

  • Do you paint with a mouse or with a special device?

  • @miguelcoma It's a graphics tablet, you can pick them up for about £30 - £40 :)

  • Thanks a lot for this wonderful walkthrough, its one of the best and most interesting I have ever seen here on youtube. Also your picture is turned out very beautiful. Man, I am so motivated now to draw something :))

Just one question: How can you switch brushes so fast without going in the brush menue? You said the video is sped up, but I've never seen that you go in the brushmenue during the process. Do you have some kind of special shortcut?

  • @Nurkuhlar Good eye! You're right, I never open the brush menu. I prefer to use the tool preset menu to save all of my brush settings. It seems to do a better job of saving all of the little settings for me, and just makes more sense. They're also easy to export & back-up, or move to another computer.

  • Wow! Good work! I really like this video, because you ACTUALLY explain what you do. I enjoyed this very much. I would like to see more videos. Hope there's a new video coming :P

    Thank you.

  • there's a saying that goes something like this; one answer that solves ten questions. it's fitting for your tutorial.

  • Wow awesome art and very useful advices, i cant wait for the next one! Thanks

  • Thanks a lot for the video. It has a lot of very helpful tips that I havent thought of before.

  • Have you been using only a hard edged brush plus the smudge tool throughout all this process of painting?

  • @Celestialyuki Thanks! And yes, nearly the whole time I was using a hard edged brush of some sort to do the painting. There are occasional times where I'll use a really large "airbrush" style brush that's extremely soft for some atmospheric effects. For instance if I want to push the distant objects back farther, I'll just take a big soft brush and push them back. Other than that, I stick with hard brushes.

  • I am so glad I found this tutorial.

You inspired me so much. My process of thinking switched from "I can't do it." to the realization that I barely even tried Studying form, landscape, and colors

The way you paint is beautiful. You reach details and you barely had to zoom in.

I know you spoke about the brushes already, and that it doesn't matter which brushes we use. But my pieces always turn too blurry.

  • Awesome stuff! Hope to see more from you soon. Maybe an interior environment next time.

  • @seolong Good idea! My portfolio could use a good interior, too. :)

  • this is great man, very helpfull!

  • This set of videos has been really inspiring. Painting is something I long wished to do since before going to art school in my early 20s, the only thing I learnt to do there is how to mix colours, it never got any further as I dropped out in favour of going back to university, yet it has still taken me too many years and now have a degree in pottery after being on a few different courses. MY pottery is filled with broad brush strokes that are filled with frustration of not being able to paint

  • I've really got to hand it to you. This is definitely one of the most thorough and detailed videos I've seen on painting. You're really great at explaining not only your process, but your take on common issues an artist faces. This has been a great help and I hope to see more from you here and on DA. Thanks a ton!

  • @ETicu Thanks so much! I'm just thrilled somebody watched it. ;) If you've got any suggestions for things you'd like to see in future videos just let me know and I'll see what I can do.
