  • Ideal flag, a pair of tits with a beer bottle between them

  • Junk the Jack

  • JACKED OFF LOL

  • "Jacked Off" is the headline? Really?

  • change it then u ungrateful cunts,we should of let the japs have it

  • @MrStraight2hell CHURCHILL wanted AUSTRALIAN troops to remain in the european war and kick the japs out of AUSTRALIA after GERMANY was defeated . Our prime minister told him to stick it and we all know what happened in SINGAPORE , the japs did not take AUSTRALIA but it was no thanks to an under resourced BRITISH army , air force and navy Thank god for the U.S.A.

  • @lonski51 who mentioned ww2?

  • @MrStraight2hell When was there any other time that the japs were going to take AUSTRALIA other than WW2. They were our allies in WW1.They may have bought our country now but that is another issue.

  • @lonski51 try reading a book

  • Im in favour of changing our flag, I m australian, I was born in Australia, Australia is my home, but I dont really recognize myself with that flag because I dont have any link with Britain as my family came to Australia from Germany, Hungary, Estonia and Italy, and OUR flag must rapresent all of us...

  • @HungarianItalian

    really.

well then respect this country's heritage or get the f-ck back to Europe, mate.

  • the aussie flag should allways stay the same. the union flag in the corner serves as a reminder to recent imigrants from asia , arabs, lebs etc etc that australia was founded by anglo saxon people predominately from the british islands our culture has evolved from those people and no one should ever forget it .if you don`t like it fuck of back to where ever you are from.

  • @SuperBigbrian Fuck off back to the UK then.

  • @MissWooHoo1 Im Australian of European background.

    Like Anglo Aussies. My country.

  • oh yes lets put the sudanese flag on it too sounds like a good idea, lets remove the union jack that represents the settlers who settled this country.

  • The reason that people don't want the flag to be changed are silly. We could come up with something that looks good..

The main point is apart of that flag doesn't represent Australia. The Union Jack is the flag of ANOTHER COUNTRY. We need a flag the represents this country.

  • We should change the flag but take note that Harold Thomas, the designer and copyright holder of the Aboriginal flag, objects to his flag being apart of a new flag, saying, "Our flag is not a secondary thing. It stands on its own, not to be placed as an adjunct to any other thing. It shouldn't be treated that way."

  • @Nahasapasa yes u piece of shit lets delete the union jack, the sign of the settlers who were the first people to set foot on this land that didn't throw sticks and eat berries.

  • @MissWooHoo1 By the Poms who dumped you here as human garbage, then used you as cannon fodder in 2 world wars. Yet you still bow to their Germanic royals.

  • @FGalaxie No way Australians hate the poms most. Its well known here.

  • @CultMagazine ok i sorry can we all just get alone now? maybe have a party... few shrimps a bbq.. few tins of fosters

  • @wank0r yes lets get along but kick out the sudanese and lebs first. oh and asians.

  • im from the united kingdom and i think australia should change it's flag. it is strange that countries still have our flag, in their own flag

  • Every day that goes by is a day closer to the REVOLUTION. When the hidden kings get exposed and then dethroned and the land goes back to the people where it belongs. We have an ultimate birthright to get our own land taxfree, fetch our own unadultered water, our own homegrown food. And to defend our land against the violent thieves in penguin suits and uniforms. I am born sovereign on this land, and I don't recognize the corporation AUSTRALIA. I only recognize THE LAND and decent people on it.

  • Sovereign people don't need a flag. The flag is the logo of the corporation AUSTRALIA. Citizens of AUSTRALIA are property(slaves) of AUSTRALIA. A citizen is not a sovereign. All humans are born sovereign, but when the parents sign the birth certificate, they sign the newborn to be the property(citizen) of the corporation AUSTRALIA. However we DID NOT give OUR consent when OUR parents signed US over to the corporation, so we can claim back our sovereignty...or stay slaves for life..

  • @alriha77 So your advocating Anarchy?

  • @LudicrousPlatypus No. There were only ever kingdoms til today. But with the invention of the press kingdoms changed shape. The REAL kings(the few hundred men who own the worlds media, military industry, pharma, banks etc) are hiding in the background, invisible to most people. From there they ORDER the politicians WHAT to do. Democracy is a lie, a trick. Voting changes nothing. Striking and demonstrating against the kings does. It always has. People have ALWAYS toppled bad kings eventually...

  • @alriha77 again, you seem to be advocating for we (as humans) to scrap Democracy, and Since you are clearly against any kind of autocratic rule, I would believe the only choice left is anarchy, which you just denied to. Which Would leave us with no governmental institution, which would again lead to anarchy.

  • Anything else would be lollie wrapper, or maybe a t- towel ...

  • Why do we have to have a flag that reminds us with the time of the British occupation to Australia? The time when Australia was just a colony under the British empire?

A flag on its own... Is it that difficult? I don't want a flag of another kingdom inside the Australian flag... It is really REALLY humiliating!

  • @dra3b like it or not but austrlia was formed by the british. its your history and heritage.. nothing to be ashamed of. the UK is the greatest country on the planet, and we are pretty much the best people.. now run along and put a shrimp on the BBQ

  • I'm an australian citizen with a chinese background

I love this country and all the facts that exist here and I also like the flag ! this is just my own opinion tho

  • 1. many people in this video stated that Australia does not belong to England obviously forgetting that the union flag does not represent England it represents England, Scotland, Wales and N Ireland

    2. It is not called Union Jack, it is called Union Flag. The word Jack is a British naval term for flag and it is only called the union Jack when flown on a vessel.

  • Wow that guy saying they should change it because of multi-culturalism.

Damn if they tried to make us change our UK flag just because we have lots of immigrants in Britain....that would be the last straw.

  • Our troops didn't fight or die for a flag (I find that thought offensive), they fought for the nation. Personaly I don't care whats on the flag, it's what it represents thats important to me.

  • @Morganfrench01

this statement doesn't make sense because it contains contradictory articles.

you don;t care what's on it

but what it represents is what is important.

so, it's important what's on the flag, but you don't care what's on the flag?

  • George Negus is an old, leftist wanker. And after listening to his comments on Berlize, an unpatriotic racist.

  • George Negus is an old, leftist wanker.

  • australians have died for our flag....

  • @MrLoudmouthspeaker not the anzacs though as everyone keeps goin on about, up until 1954 the official flag of australia was the union jack

  • @altern8dbeatz yep true

  • @MrLoudmouthspeaker Died under the red ensign version of it.

Being cannon fodder for the English.

    Time for something new.

Anzzacs arent the only members of Aus society

  • @FGalaxie its our heritage..... are you embarrased by that

  • @MrLoudmouthspeaker in a word YES.

that aussies are still servile, and pathetic to a bunch of buck toothed poms.

  • @FGalaxie buck toothed poms ...now that funny... hope you arnt a comedian because your humour sucks

  • what the hell, so what if the union jack is on there, paranoid bastards

  • Ask yourself something when you look up at our flag, which part of it makes you feel good? i can't relate to the union jack, i have no feeling for it. its a combination of england, scotland and wales none of which ive ever lived

  • @bob67jones Your in a country built up by the British

  • Wouldn't it be nice to piss those anti-Aussies back to where they came from.

  • What has happened to this country? We've become a bunch of left-wing pussies. Why should we let our culture die just because it's seen as unfashionable, "colonial" and out-dated? We are being forced-fed multiculturalism at our expense. Talk about political-correctness gone mad

  • What has happened to this country? We've become a bunch of left-wing pussies. Why should we let our culture die just because it's seen as unfashionable, "colonial" and out-dated? We are being forced-fed multiculturalism at our expense

  • @koorja1 i agree 100% mate i am sick and tired of liberal papers and left wing tv shows whinging every australia day and push to change our heritage .. if they don't like it piss off to somewhere else

  • @toddskisyd okay so left wingers are not patriotic according to you because they don't like their flag and therefore should piss off somewhere else. At least that have some rational thought and decide what is needed to improve our country and use their patriotism as a vehicle to help improve their country. Rather than the reactionist emotional thinking that is typical of bogan conservatives?

  • @peacad see your a typical lefty that thinks this great country needs change like i say if you don't like it piss off and using the term bogan is proof your have prob 3 working cells in that grey matter you got stuffed in your melon ..patriotic that's pretty stupid when you don't like a flag from the country your supposed to be patriotic about get real jackass ..this country don't need help from an idiot like you

  • @toddskisyd ahh nothing but an emotional response from you no fact or rational thought yet again. I have 3 brain cells, well if I do then getting my Bachelors Degree and progressing in a professional career for 9 years must be the bigger achievement than I thought it was. Also if I am not patriotic then how come I no longer want a symbol that originated on another country (the Union Jack) no longer on our flag? The flag in its current state has only really existed since 1954 anyway.

  • @toddskisyd Yes I am a typical lefty that think our country needs change, in order to progress and move on. Not like the typical conservative who is generally opposed to change and wants their country to remain stagnant, uncreative and therefore eventually become an economic basketcase. Look at North Korea they haven't changed their political ideas in over 50 years!

  • @peacad

I think comparing NK to AUS is just a pointless stretch. NK is suffering under a brutal dictatorship, we arent, and as much as Aus will suffer under Labor, it is far more pleasant than a Kim Jong II regime dont you think?

  • @toddskisyd the difference between you and me is I don't tell people to piss off out of my country if they don't have the same political beliefs if I want. I accept political difference you don't.

  • @koorja1 when it was originally released in 1901. The public reaction to the flag was one of huge distate, there was a lot of criticism about the flag even then. One journalist in the Bulletin magazine criticised it by saying that there was nothing about the flag that truly represented Australia.

  • @peacad yeah keep telling yourself that, its still our flag

  • jacked off? not a very good word game

  • why would they put the aboriginal flag on it instead of the union jack?

thats the most stupidest thing i ever heard,

the abporiginal flag is or aboriginals. what about the other ethnicities of australia?

  • @str82thetruth So true

  • I will never recognise any other flag ever and will fight to the death for it

  • Every part of this great country is becoming erroded!

We are being forced into having a multicultural country, all of our heritage is being taken away from us because its deemed 'outdated' by the left, our constitutional monarchy which is one of the most advanced and fairest systems of government is going to be replaced with a proven unstable form of totalitarian government.

These things happen when a nation ceases to be a nation and moves towards becoming part of a one world government.

  • @saacson fearmongering and naturally afraid of change.

  • I don't see a problem with changing the flag. I really don't. Canada has changed their flag, but is still a part of the British Empire. Canada seems to be doing very well for themselves.

  • Hawaii still has a union jack on it as well as do loads of other places so stop bitching.

  • The next Aussie flag will be a drawing of a woman with big bussoms lieing topless on a beach towel to reprezent the Aussie lifestyle.

  • So basically if we cut the bullshit, from an outsider it looks like this is only about pleasing non white's( of european decent). From an englishmen, dont get fooled into thinking multiculturism is a utopia. The experiment has failed in the UK just look at the cities and towns, there are no go areas for whites, area's that are contolled by mosques that house islamic fascists breeding hatred toward non muslims. other disgusting third world criminals.

  • Fuck Multiculturalism, and fuck all you republicans, i am proud to be australian and i am proud of my flag and proud of my country, my forefathers fought and died under it, and you ray martin, your the worst most dispicable person in this country and you should be charged with treason

  • Must I state that every flag of the Australian States is still the same old boring blue ensign with the Jack in the canton (top-left corner). I seriously, they just take the same old blue flag with the jack in the corner and just slap something on there. Weather it be the coat of arms, seal, or the southern cross, it all the same! Ask yourself this, if you put the Australian flag among others of the same design (such as Australian States), would you be able to find it so easily?

  • We've got a much stronger identity than the Canadians and they managed to change their flag so what's holding us back?....

  • so an insulting thanks for nothing from some aussies.

  • Don't dare change our flag.

  • fuck off ray

  • I'm all for a new flag, but most of the designs I've seen are terrible. Keep it simple, look at the flags of Canada and NZ. Green and gold are an awful combination. Just sticking the Aboriginal flag over the Union Jack is a terrible idea. I don't care much for the Southern Cross as a symbol, too religious. We have a long way to go before I will be satisfied with a new design. But with that said, I'm 100% in favour of a new flag for Australia.

  • if u change our flag ill shoot every one of you's cunts in the head!!!!

  • @MrCRUZVL - Obvious troll is obvious, or possibly angry person is possibly angry.

  • if u change our flag ill shoot every one of use cunts in the head!!!

  • Ray's Aboriginal so of course he'd want the Aboriginal flag in it,

  • PISS OF THE UNION JACK. we will never be truly australian if we dont have a unique aussie flag. This flag was basically chosen FOR US by he british. Americans see our flag and think it is the new zealand flag for god sakes. No wait maybe it is the hawaii flag or maybe it is the 100 other flags wit the union jack in it. WE NEED A UNIQUE FLAG!!!

  • Fuck the union jack right off

  • @nonameisacat the Ballarat Reform League passed a resolution "that it is the inalienable right of every citizen to have a voice in making the laws he is called on to obey, that taxation without representation is tyranny". The meeting also resolved to secede from the United Kingdom if the situation did not improve.

  • @nonameisacat The demands of the Ballarat Reform League encompassed:

    * Manhood suffrage (the right for all men to vote)

    * Abolition of the property qualifications for members of parliament

    * Payment of members of parliament

    * Voting by secret ballot

    * Short term parliaments

    * Equal electoral districts

    * Abolition of diggers' and storekeepers' licenses

    * Reform of administration of the gold fields

    * Revision of laws relating to Crown land.

  • @nonameisacat could be just me but i dont see too much wrong with that history...

  • if you want to change the flag then also change the colours because every country britain conquered had red white and blue on it plus 3:10 once on australia day the flag was flown upsidedown which means we are in trouble

  • If the flag was ever changed, shit would hit the fan. Hell, I get very angry and just about ready to punch on just listening to people argue for it. To me, these flag changing advocates are traitorous little scumbags that hate this country.

  • I fell like shaking Ray Martin's hand telling him to "FUCK OFF!!!" and "if you don't like Australia, then leave!

  • The Australian flag needs to be changed, Australia should also become a republic because the queen is sucking this country dry, and the flag should be nice and unique, it should be mean and the envy of other nations.

  • the flag looks ugly and any proud Australian wouldn't want the flag of another country ( union jack) as their national flag. change it and move on with the bright future the nation is heading. its 2010 for heavens sake.

  • Oh, and I sure hope that if we change it we don't throw the aboriginal flag in there, firstly, it would not suit the blue and white colouring and secondly, it replaces the union jack (which reprisents the anglo ethnic group) with the aboriginal flag (which reprisents a different ethnic group).

It's a shame we can't use the Eureka flag, it's a bloody beautiful flag.

  • A new flag is needed, a flag that reprisents Australians and not colonial British. The problem is that all the replacement proposals are utter crap, especially those green and gold ones that look like shit.

But yes, get rid of the union jack and the commonwealth while we're at it. A resident for president :).

  • It sounds to me like if you all changed your flag (willfully or otherwise), many Australians would say "to heck with that" and continue hanging the current flags in their homes, cars, and wherever. I imagine changing the flag would divide Australia all the more.

  • @Lavenderrose73 stfu the union jack means that gay england is in cntroll of us , which it isnt, so thats y we should get rid of it

  • @0s0e0a0n0100 I'm just noticing how dead set you are all on one side or the other. I found all this out from a friend who is very against it so I'm just wondering about the outcome of all this for my friend's sake... and that of other friends out there. This may be the way you feel, and understandably so. At the same time, I've seen some express very opposite feelings about it. As for me, I can understand both sides. Some want to move on, and others want to preserve that piece of history.

  • the flag should be the boxing kangroo with a tattoo of the southern cross on its arm

  • That would be very interesting if the government went for that. I think the change of the flag would be an adjustment for many of us who are NOT Australian because that flag has been how we recognize all of you. I love the Southern Cross on it, I think it's a lovely icon, and I will find out in a month from the global education office if I'll be getting a glimpse of that Cross around New Year 2011.

  • @0s0e0a0n0100 thats retarded..Don't forget the whole fucking world would see that stupid fucking idea.

  • @MisterAyKayLive , why dont you go live in england you fucking cunt ur not australian ur probs an imigrant

  • Personally, we are exiled Convicts from Britain and Ireland. We don't need that Union Jack on our flag. We have matured as a Country, making our own decision and being a sole sovereign Country where national pride is important. Fuck the Queen and the Union Jack. UP THA RA!

  • @5haiHulud FUCK THE QUEEN

A BOXING KANGAROO WILL BEAT HER OLD WHITE ASS OUTTA DOWN UNDER

  • @B4IRUTUARU16 no need to be racist

  • @AnnieRoadAGGRO yr an idiot

  • @B4IRUTUARU16 why is that? your the one who cannot spell. 'yr' is not a word haha

  • Couldn't imagine raising anything but what what we have.... anything else would be lollie wrapper...... leave it alone for heaven sake .....!!!!!!!!!!

  • canada did get rid of the union jack but that was because they have a large french colony there too. They today still have the monarchy but have kept the union jack on all their state flags, kept the queen on their money and still value . there old flag with the union jack on is still flown ouside official buildings .

  • if changing the flag is unaustralian then how the fuck is having the union jack on our falg australian......lol.....fuck the jack off

  • Been through this nonsense once all ready remember?

  • Cathy Freeman also wants the flag changed too

  • Something that just hit me,

What do the British people think of our flag? I saw on the Sky News website that there were some Brits who wanted their flag off ours

  • As a brit i think it looks good as it is... but then im gonna say that arnt i lol. there are alot of aussie's who came from britain so it is part of their heritage i supose, dont think you should be ashamed of british heritage. i feel brits and aussies have always got on well together

but at end of day is your country so upto yourselves. P.S i like australia and the people, went to visit my brother who lives in sydney last year and loved the place

  • You think changing the 'official' flag will change the flag people call 'Australian'..?

  • DONT CHANGE THE FLAG!!! its got so much history in it and has been our flag for soo long!! i like it the way it is, even if its got the union jack on it, its still worth keeping!!

  • Get rid of the union jack. We aint british.... Where australian

  • the union jack will always be on our flag its 2 remind us that the brits still own us....lol

  • As an american living in australia I agree that the flag should be changed and so does my british girlfriend. The problem is australia dosent really have its own identity other than kangaroos and beaches

  • I'm not sure about that. The Australian identity includes all of the history; colony, convicts, squatters, shearers, bushrangers, gold, federation, unionization, immigration, ANZACs, lifesavers, native flora and fauna, indigenous culture, the outback and bush legends, art, film and literature traditions, vaguer notions of larrickanism, mateship, opportunity and individuality, et al. I don't think it's any more or less artificial than what makes up the national identity of other countries.

  • Comment removed

  • @Scoinsoffaterocks They have. Especially in Australia. I'm sure many people honestly think Canada doesn't have any culture or identity beyond moose and mounties - but you'd know that anyone who says that is only showing their own ignorance.

  • @deluxsound123 you have no right you are not Australian so therefore you don't feel the flag like we do.

  • @deluxsound123 mate, thats exactly the problem. We have too many identities

  • I think that a fantastic idea...Ray and just as a person changes thier clothes when they no longer fit/outgrown them...so the same goes with the Australain flag..we have outgrown it as a nation.....not all of us are subjects of British/queen...yep get rid of the Union jack...keep the southern cross...and if the POMES dont like that...then go back to England...the home of the union jack....go Ray...I support you.

  • Of course we should change it. Canada is still part of the commonwealth but has their own unique flag.

  • @tubester4567 Here in Canada, even the most fervent monarchists are in support of our flag. My grandfathers fought under the ensign too and they didn't miss it one bit. There was enormous opposition in the 1960's when we got our own flag and many were bitter, but there is no question it has been change for the better. All the best to Aussie anti-union jackists, this Canadian supports you.

  • @hondoLS Thanks. Theres no doubt it will change soon. Even the Monarchists concede that it will eventually.

  • @tubester4567 Not all Monarchists concede...Did you not hear Tony Abott's address on the 10th anniversary of the failed 1999 republican referendum?

  • @hondoLS Wonder why Ontario and Manitoba still keep a Union Jack?

  • @tubester4567

So we should change the flag because Canada did? I fucking hope you never get into parliament.

This flag IS Australias identity whether you like it or not, it represents this country perfectly.

  • @aaronomg lol because canada did it lol ..that country will be screwed in the not to distant future all because of their weak imigration rules ...some lefty has wrecked canada big time

  • @aaronomg No, just making the point that we can still be part of the commonwealth without the union jack on our flag. Whatever way you look at it we have the flag of another country on our flag. Its mind blowing to me that some people find that acceptable.

  • Media personalities may have the ability to voice their opinions to a wide audience through your work however it is about time they realised that their opinion does not constitute the opinion of the whole of the Aust public. I am not just speaking about the issue of the flag but in relation to social & political issues generally. As for Peter's comment about who cares where we came from, if he finds a story and a book deal he can exploit guess who'll start to care.

  • Why do we want a flag that is a replica of New Zealand????!!!! I say ditch it and go for something that IS Australian...I hate the British flag in the corner

  • Time for a new flag having a British Australian Flag just doesn,t make sense in this day and age ,

  • No way do I want to change our flag. Whether we are of British ancestory or not we inherited from the UK the rule of law, accountable government and the westminster system. All good enough reasons for keeping the union jack on our flag. The way Ray Martin puts it it is he who needs to grow up and get over his hatred for our English heritage. I am starting to feel ashamed by the constant carping of him and his fellow republicans.

  • we should have a green flag with gold stars for the southern cross and the aboriginal flag instead of the union jack

  • i dont really wanna change it but ur idea sounds good...

  • My father served in the army for 32 year, my grandfathers served in the wars as did many others, thousands of soldiers died defending this flag. This flag is not just some piece of material, it is an ideal it has been built on the blood sweat and tears of every Australian. If we change the flag we will be disgracing those who have given their lives for this country for that flag.

  • Not true, Canada, who shares a similar history to Australia, changed their flag.

  • Comment removed

  • I love the flag,

  • Ray has a point - think about it - British Union Jack on Australian Flag - it just doesn;t make sense. I don't see the Union Jack on the Stars and Stripes, or inside the Maple Leaf on the Canadian Flag. Why then should it remain on ours? It's not a question of if it goes, but when...

  • i'm all for changing the flag but i'd like to see a plain southern cross on a blue background with nothing else.

  • I'm for changing our flag. we are our own sovereign nation, not to mention we are also one of the fastest growing multicultural societies on the planet, many of those people whom have nothing to do with the British.

Canada, another commonwealth country changed their flag in 1964 to remove the Union Jack and they haven't looked back since.

If we really wanted to reflect on history in our flag we should incorporate an aboriginal symbol.

  • mate the army are the custodians of the aussie flag, aussies died under it, u wanna change it, convince the army coz we are the ones R looking after it, im sure u will get a rude reception-

aboriginal flag??? what contribution have they made?

  • Keep in mind that nobody died or fought for the Australian flag. They fought for the values and ideals they believed it to stand for. It makes sense that the flag should change to fit changing values in Australia, or to better reflect what Australia stands for and it's place in the world. I don't think that the flag should change before we become a Republic.

  • u fuck uneducated fuck wit, like i said the army are the custodians of the flag cum and get it if u wanna change it, just try and pull it off a diggers shoulder and c what happens,,

republic, u wanker what were we vote for our police cheif, ya woopie do and end up with a corrupt society, good on u

  • You make an eloquent argument.

  • eloquent -having or exercising the power of fluent, forceful, and appropriate speech-

had 2 look that one up, but yeah, im guessing your not gonna go ask a digger any time soon if u can take the flag of his shoulder?

  • Edwards you should actually do some research on history,

Our Diggers in World War 1 and 2 DID NOT fight under the Australian flag as the flag we know today was not made our official national flag until 1954, nine years after WWII the last great threat to our nation ended.

Our Diggers were forced to fight under the British Union Flag as Australia was still considered part of the British Empire, in fact some diggers were even court marshaled for not saluting the British flag.

  • well diggers are still fighing and making sacrafices under our flag, a flag that is comprised of the original flag, dont fuck with what works wanker, u still gonnna have 2 take the flag of a digger

  • If you ask your personal secretary to type in your question on google search you are sure to find the answer to your question. I doubt you need us here to find the answer for you?

  • NO WAY, Ray can go get fucked if he doesn't like it, just because he doesn't like it doesn't mean we all have to listen to a retired news reporter. he has the option to move country....only person stopping him is himself.

  • Yeah I agree. Do not change it. Our flag shows our english heritage and the southern cross looks awesome whilst representing alot.

And no, do not put an aboriginal flag on it, I looks worse and we'll all want to change it again in 20 years!

  • no-one is forcing you to listen to him, its a free country after all...
