Whew! Tense moments. And to make the illegal pet trade even sadder, the mother apes are often killed in order to get the infants. Then as the babies grow, the apes do not make good pets at all. They end up chained, discarded, malnourished, etc.
The sellers are professionals. The ape is sleek, well fed, and trained. The sellers will pay-off the government officials and then, return to sell more apes. Everybody in town knows each other, often relatives, and business shall proceed as usual.
